MORE MEMBERS
In the past couple of weeks, a further 20 psychologists have joined our forum. A warm welcome to them. We now have 140 members.
APS
This week, Alison Whybrow and Stephen Palmer had lunch with Ray Elliott, the Australian Psychological Society, Coaching Psychology Special Interest Group National Convenor. This is part of our forum's policy to forge links with professional coaching bodies in the UK and overseas. As psychologists we can join the APS interest group as long as we are APS members too. We will shortly send out a copy of their recent membership letter over this system.
CONFERENCE/COURSE ADVERTS
The working party have agreed a policy regarding conference/course adverts on this system as we do not want to be overwhelmed by them. Apart from our own Forum's CPD events, all other course or conference adverts will go out a maximum of once in any week, all together in one email digest. Professional bodies that promote our events will be able to freely advertise relevant CPD events in coaching/coaching psychology on our system. Commercial organisations will have to pay the forum a fee of 25 per advert.
We will encourage organisations to offer our members discount.
All adverts to be sent by email to either Alison Whybrow or Stephen Palmer.
BOARD OF TRUSTEES MEETING
Our proposal to form a Special Group in Coaching Psychology is going forward to the next stage. The Co-proposers, Alison Whybrow and Stephen Palmer, will put our case to the BPS Board of Trustees in September. Even if we get through this stage, we will then need over 300 BPS members to support our application. There is also a vote to contend with!!
TOP SPECIAL ISSUE ON COACHING PSYCHOLOGY
One of our working party members, Margaret Chapman, edited a special issue of The Occupational Psychologist on Coaching Psychology, published by BPS DOP. This issue really brings us up-to-date with coaching psychology in the UK. Well worth obtaining a copy. Our thanks go to Margaret for this excellent publication. Also, it has helped us get more members too.
SURVEY
For our new members, below we repeat an earlier email about of our important survey:
Over 60 coaching psychology form members have now completed the coaching psychology survey. However, we are keen to have 100 members complete the survey to provide us with a clear picture of your needs and information that can underpin our special group proposal to the BPS.
NEXT CPD TRAINING EVENT
Our next training event will be a mini-conference plus workshop held
in London on 15th September. More details to follow soon.
