Coach Daniels' 33 Stack Defensive Site

The defense is a 6 man stacked front. We have a Nose Guard, two Defensive Ends, two Outside Linebackers (Razor and Lazor), Three inside linebackers (Mike, Rob and Lou), two Cornerbacks and a Safety. It is a BLITZING gap control defense and each position is assigned to protect a gap on any given call.

The STRONG SIDE will be determined by the side with TWO receivers .

PHILOSOPHY: Why the 33 Stack?

  • Allows us to get BEST 11 athletes on the field

  • Flexibility; rush OR drop 8 players

  • Easy to teach, techniques are ALWAYS the same

  • Creates doubt in the offense due to pre-snap movement

  • The defense promotes aggressive play

  • There is no need for a Nickel 14 field

  • The defense easily morphs into a 4 or 5 man front.

  • Finally, it is SIMPLE and FUN to teach...Players will love it

Keys to Great Success in the 33 Stack

1. Remember, Never stop your feet!

2. Create Turnovers, try to tackle the ball carrier and the ball, strip when ever possible.

3. Don't give up the big play

4. Use the length and width of the field as our "12th Man"

5. Outside Linebackers and Corner Backs maintain leverage at all times.

6. Don't cross the LOS on running plays unless a blitz is called then our depth will 3 yards deep.

7. We must put pressure on the QB, He must go down and go down HARD!

8. DB's must break on the ball, that ball belongs to you as much as it does the receiver you are covering, go get it at its highest point!

9. Team Tackle! We should always get more than two people on EVERY tackle.

10. Intensity - Do you job first, Full-Tilt, All Out with controlled aggressiveness  .

11. Big hits are nice, but make the sure tackle first, grab cloth and bring down the ball carrier.
