| Barnikool started on a cold windy day March 17, 1997. At first we played only cover songs, but we found inspiration from our Milli Vanilli albums to strike out and record our own material. Our first album "Greatest Hits" was an underground success, but was trashed by all media. One magazine called it the worst album of the year. We set out to prove them wrong by releasing "Wuuuzzz Up" in December of 1997, a collection of feedback and animal yelling noice, laden with Yoko Ono samples. That magazine was kind ehough to acknowledge their pre-mature ranking of "Greatest Hits" by publishing "Wuuuzzz Up" as the worst and "Greatest Hits" as the second worst. Feeling relieved by their correction, we attempted to hit the road in Spring 1998, but found ourselves unable to book any gigs, as our albums had been trashed so thouroughly. We retreated to the studio and released "Snoop Dogg" to much fanfare in August of 1998. Every magazine who trashed us the year before was now on our jock. 'Rolling Stone' called it the best album since Debbie Gibson's "Out of the Blue". With slightly over 600 albums sold, we hit the big time with the famous "Festival of Debauchery" tour in Fall/Winter of 1998/1999. We ran into problems and had to shut the tour down once we hit Lincoln, NE due to all of the parent and church protests. I guess sacrificing a goat onstage does not have the same acceptance it once did. Due to the media backlash we dediced to "Willa Wonka" it and retreat to the studio never to be seen again. We have continued to release album after album, and ever occasionly play a live show in front of member's only audiences, such as 2005's "Live at Slims". Lately we are finishing up the final touches on "7 Laws of the & Seas" which promises to be our best album to date. Look for it sometime in Summer 2006. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
