The teams have been selected and the games have begun. Taunton High School will field a full compliment of Freshmen, Junior Varsity and Varsity players for the second year in a row. This is a credit to both the number of committed soccer players in Taunton and the committment of Taunton High School to developing a quality soccer program.
Many of the players you will see on the field this season are year-round soccer players. The Junior Varsity team and Varsity team features players who spent the spring playing soccer for Taunton Youth Soccer League teams competing in the South Coast Soccer League 2005 season. Under 15 boys and Under 18 boys had great success as each earned a spot at the Massachusetts Tournament of Champions and represented their club well against the best teams in the state.
Last year, Taunton High School's varsity team earned a spot in the MIAA Tournament and earned a solid win in their first game.
The ToucHlineS Club can also boast a large measure of success from last year. After jumping on the chance to operate Taunton Youth Soccer League's concession stands, the club was able to make great strides in fundraising for our long term goals. These goals include major improvements to the Williams Street field - once the varsity field, now the junior varsity field - and a college scholarship program for graduating seniors.
Success, on the field and off, depends greatly on the combined commitment of the whole team. For The ToucHlineS Club, the team is our dedicated members who have volunteered their time and energy to give the boys of Taunton High School soccer the best experience possible. We need your help. You know the saying, "Many hands make light the work." With nearly 60 players involved in Taunton High boys soccer, no one needs to feel overwhelmed with the task ahead. A few hours of your time is all that is needed if we all pitch in.
