J. C. Osteen, one of the best known and most highly esteemed of the pioneer
residents died Wednesday night at the home of his son, J. D. of Hollister,
after an extended illness.
He was 85 and a loyal
Confederate veteran. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Nellie Stack, Ft.
Pierce, Mrs. Laura Smith, Francis, two sons, M. B. and J. D. of Hollister.
Interment was at Hollister Cemetery

Catherine S. Barber,
83, of Palatka, died Friday, October 22, 2004 at Putnam Community Medical
Center after a long illness. She was a native of Bostwick and a lifelong
resident of Putnam County. She was a member of Sardis Baptist Church and a
homemaker. She was the last of 12 siblings.
She is survived by
five children: Esther Cornelio and Vanda L. Wilkinson, both of Interlachen;
Bonnie Burke, Larry Monroe Barber and Betty J. Methvin, all of Palatka; 14
grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Friends called Monday,
Oct. 25 at Johnson-Overturf Funeral Home in Interlachen. Funeral services will
be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 26 at the funeral home with Pastor Mark Mardis
officiating. Burial will follow in Hollister Cemetery.
