BACKGROUND

The VF-11MAXL-T is a custom variant of the VF-11MAXL Thunderbolt produced for Composite Marine Air Group 7 Commander Lieutenant Colonel Toni Lombardi in 2048. Toni's custom variant was produced to deliver a flying style optimum for him, to show no bias to any one squad's mecha, and because of a large quantity of Shinsei Heavy Industry stock. His variant is very different from any other Valkyrie in service. It trades armor and weapons for shear speed and maneuverability, a style of combat much desired by Toni. He especially wanted the high speed and maneuverability, because he plans on using this Valkyrie to race in the Shinsei Cup Circut in the Pro-Valks division. Although the MAXL-T is a racing Valkyrie, it is also Toni's primary mecha for the Marines requiring it to be armed as such. The Valkyrie sports a modest payload of micro-missiles, and is complimented only by a single beam cannon, a leftover technology from the X-9 Ghost fighter. The fuselague is armored only enough to protect the VF from the dangers of space, but can accept the Thunderbolt Armor System Making it a fully armored variant of itself. The MAXL-T has never proven itself in combat or races, but Toni plans for it to do so in the upcomming VF-X competition.

Destroying the head of the VF will knock out the mecha's major sensor systems, including all of the optics systems (infrared, nightvision, thermal). Radar and communications will be unaffected.
Depleting the MDC of the main body will destroy the mecha. The pilot and cockpit section/escape pod will be automatically ejected from the doomed mecha before it explodes by the mecha's main computer.
The pinpoint barrier shield regenerates at a rate of 50 MDC per round. Even if completely destroyed the shield will regenerate within 2 melee rounds. The shield is usually generated on the right arm of the Thunderbolt.

COMPATIBLE FAST PACKS:
Dorsal:NP-BP-10,NP-BP-12,NR-BP-E7, NR-BP-19,NR-BP-19-SES

WEAPON SYSTEMS:

  1. PULSE LASER GUNPOD: The VF-11MAXL-T is armed with a custom gunpod tested by the Marine XMFA-611 during the Protodevlin War. The High Energy Gunpod is leftover technology from the X-9 Ghost Fighter that gained notoriety during the Sharon Apple Incident. Two barrels emit a high intesity burst of energy that causes extreme damage to its targets.
  2. LITTLE ROCK ALL-ENVIRONMENT HIGH-MANEUVERABILITY MICRO-MISSILE CLUSTERS: The legs of the VF-11MAXL-T are equipped with two concealed missile launcher bays that can hold up to 18 of the new high-maneuverability micro-missiles each. (NOTE: These are NOT the medium-range versions of the high-maneuverability missiles seen in Macross Plus #1). When armed, the missile launcher assembly rises out of the leg units, allowing all 18 missiles to be fired at once if necessary. The missiles can be fired in any mode; fighter, gerwalk, or soldier. Any type of SRM can be used in the launchers, but usually only high-maneuverability short-range missiles are used.
  3. ANTI-AIRCRAFT PULSE LASER: The VF-11MAXL-T mounts a single pulse laser for use in air combat skirmishes and for defensive purposes. The laser is mounted on the head of the mecha in soldier mode, and is located in the central dorsal section of the main body pointed rearward in fighter and gerwalk modes. The laser can only fire to the REAR of the fighter in these modes; it cannot be turned to fire along another arc.
  4. HOWARD PBS-03F PIN-POINT BARRIER SYSTEM: The VF11-MAXL-T is equipped with a new mecha-scale pinpoint barrier system for defense. The system can generate a single pinpoint barrier that can be moved anywhere on the mecha and used as a shield against incoming attacks. The barrier provides 100 MDC of protection, and regenerates at a rate of 50 MDC per round when damaged. Even if destroyed by combined attacks, the shield will regenerate itself within 2 rounds. In order to use the shield, the pilot must make a successful parry roll to intercept an incoming attack.
  5. HAND TO HAND COMBAT: If necessary, the pilot of the VF-11 can engage in melee combat rather than use a weapon. The variable fighter is extremely agile and can execute most typical hand to hand combat moves, such as punches, jump kicks, leap attacks, rolling with impacts, etc.
