Day 5 - Friday 30th November

Day 4 of Proceedure.
I slept well last night, getting up only once for a painkiller. The swelling had eased slightly which relieved the tension in my face. The swelling is continually decreasing gradually, and my face is begining to scab over.

This morning I was allowed to wash my face for the first time, using a soap free wash and clean cloth. A small amount of the crusting flaked off. This should happen each time I wash from now on. I followed this with a liberal coating of vaseline.

I visited the hospital again today for another check up, in which I was able to point out something that has been concerning me; a small white spot on my lip.

To my knowledge I have never had any form of Herpes, but the small spot looked like the beginnings of a cold sore. I was asked before my proceedure if I had ever had Herpes, so that I could be given some preventative medicine as a cold sore outbreak could cause an infection. I was sure that I did not, but it seems that I do! Hopefully the medicine I am taking for it ('Famvir'), will prevent infection. I'm not quite sure what could happen if I was to become infected, I'm just going to keep taking my medicine and check for any unusual changes. On top of the 'Famvir' I've been given some more 'Bactroban' ointment as this should form an antibactirial barrier on my skin.
