           Uses for gear:
Ice auger; this is what makes your hole, hand augers are fine for most people but you should choose a gas auger if you ice fish often.

Spud; a chisle like object used to widen the bottom of your hole or to make a hole when the ice isn't thick.

Ice scoop; it looks like a large soup ladle withe holes drilled through it, it is used to scoop away the slush that forms at the top of your hole.

Bucket; to hold your gear and it doubles as a seat.

Gaff; a 1.5ft. to 2ft. pole with a very large hook on the end. used to bring a large fish such as a Pike through your hole.

Ice tent; no, not a tent made of ice, a nylon tent with a thick plastic floor that has one or two small trap doors that you drill your holes through and enough room to move around in.

Propane Space heater; to heat your ice tent, or to keep your hands from freezing to your pole outside.

Tip-ups; they are king of hard to explain,
they have a reel that is usually submerged in the hole and is attached to a shaft with a "T" at the top, there is a flag mounted on a spring, and the top of the flag goes under the "T" and when a fish takes the bait it releases the flag then you reel in the fish.

Sled; there are ice fishing sleds with high sides, but a kids snow sled will work fine.
