Welcome to Alaska. Okay, it's not really Alaska, just pictures of it. Picky, picky. I never thought that I would ever see Alaska, let alone live there, but that's exactly what happened. Before we were married, my husband was sent to Fort Wainwright in Fairbanks for his permanent station.

I think the funniest thing was when I learned that you have to plug your car in so that the liquids inside,(oil, etc.)don't freeze. A lot of people are surprised when you tell them that people don't live in igloos and there aren't any polar bears running around in your front yard. (They live way up North)However, there are plenty of
moose that do just that. Plus, in the summertime it can get very hot. Sometimes when I called home, it was hotter in Fairbanks than it was in New York. :0)

We spent about 3 years in Fairbanks and our oldest son Griffin was born at the hospital on base.

When Griffin was 1 we moved back home. We had thought about staying in Alaska, but it was so far from our family and we wanted Griffin to be able to see his relatives on a regular basis. Someday we would like to go back to show Griffin where he was born.
