Originally from Astoria, Oregon, I graduated from Portland State University with a bachelor's degree in philosophy in 1996. I got a master's degree in philosophy from the University of Minnesota in 2000. In 2007 I got my PhD in philosophy, also from the University of Minnesota.
From 2003 to 2006 I worked as an ontologist at Cycorp, Inc. in Austin, Texas.
Since January 2007 I have been teaching philosophy full-time at the University of Minnesota Duluth. In the summer or fall of 2009 I will be starting law school (at an institution to be determined).
