Bible Study: Preparing for the Eternal

Text Jon:3: 14-18

1.0      Introduction:

Eternal is literally defined as everlasting or having neither beginning nor end of existence Or infinite duration or having no end or perpetual The word of God as revealed in the Bible quaIified Gods benefits, nature etc as Eternal. The final lot of each human will be either Eternal life or Eternal punishment. Eternal life deecribes The salvation that God bestows on those who trust and serge him. Whereas, Eternal Punishment is divinely instituted penalty of endless suffering, including banishment from Gods presence. Th choice of where to spend eternity is ours Deut 30.19, Jon 3.18. The hope of every Christian is eternal life.

 

2.0           Eternity

2.1        God’s nature:

All God’s nature endures without end; as long as God exists, so do they. These are the never-ending aspects of God or his saving provisions. Read the following passages and discuss God’s eternal nature.

Romans 1:20; 1 Tim 1:17; Deut 33:27; Psalm 10:16; 46:14; Isa 26:4; Jer 10:10; Dan 4:3,34;

 

2.2           Promise of Eternal Life: Life everlasting with God

,John l7: 3; 1 John 5:11; 1 John 13:20; lJohn 1:2; Prov. 22:4, Mat 5:3,  I John 5:11-13; Rom 6:22-23, Titus 1:2, John 3.16. 3:36, 5:24,39, 6:27; John 17:2-4

When does eternal life start? (Jon 1:12)

Is the promise of eternal life open to all mankinds?

Can one be sure of eternal life while living in this world? How? Eph 2:8

 

2.3           Eternal Death: The final destiny of the unbeliever.

Luke 13:27-28. Mat 8:12; 13.40-42, 49-50; 18:8-9; 25:41; Mark 9:43-44, 48, Luke 16.23-25. 28, Mat 25:46; Rev 21:8.

What is the description of eternal death in the above Scriptures?

Will there be Christians in hell? Give biblical support to your answer of YES Or NO Matt7:21-23; Gal 5:19-21;

3.0           Preparation for the Eternal

Psalm 90:12; Psalm 30.4; Mat 6:33; Heb 11:25.

3.1           When. How and Why?

When is the right time to start? 2Cor 6.2

What are the steps/rules to follow? 2Tim 2:5

What are the hindrances; and how can we overcome them?

If eternal life is a gift, why do we need to prepare for it?

What does the Bible mean by “peculiar people’ in 1 Pet 2:9?

Read 2Cor 6:14-18 and describe what it means to be “yoked together with unbelievers’

What is your concept of separation from the world?

 

3.2        Some Biblical examples

a.) Moses (Heb. 11:24-25); Barnabas (Acts 4: 36-37) and Paul (2Tim 4:7&8)

b)Samson (Judg 18:1-20); Amaziah 2 Chr 25.1-2,  Demas (2Tirn 4:10) and Ananias & Sapphira

(Act 5:1-11)

Conclusion

You are not alone as you map your way to heaven. The cloud and fire have long disappeared (Exodus 12:17-22) but Cod has given you even bettor guides through life; His inspired words in the bible and the Holy Spirit. The Spirit Is your ever-present companion who continually reminds you of all that belongs to you in Christ The same Spirit gives you understanding of the scriptures as practical guides for preparation for Eternity.
