Walk in the Light.

Text: 1 John 1:5-7                                                                          

Introduction:

Walking in the light means living a life characterized by holiness and truth. Walking in the ways of God. Is 2:3. To walk in the light is to be in spiritual union with God, having fellowship with one another and with the trinity. Walking in the light of God is to believe in God, accept and be aware of the obligation to be good and perfect like him. Mat 5:48, 2 Cor 4:6

 

Is it compulsory for a Christian to walk in the light? If so why?

1. Because it is a unified choice Dt 26:17-19

2. God commanded it. Dt 5:33.

3. Your work must be seen Mt 5: 14-16.

4. Our Adamic nature is is bad. Is 64:6. Abide in God. Jn 15:5.

5. We cannot hide. Jer 23:24, 16:17. Christ will judge the world in righteousness  Ps 9:8

What can we say on Jn 14:23-24?.

 

What is required of us to work in the light? -Do not be among those who claim to be specially intellectually and spiritually advanced, but whose lives show no sign of it.

1. Purify yourself and do not sin. 1 Jn3:3.

2. Putting on the whole armour of God. Eph 611:19

3. Be holy and yield yourself unto God. Lev 19:2, Rom 6:13.

4. Obey God's commandment and seek not after your own heart. Num 15:39-40, 1 Jn 2:28

5. Believe in God and Follow Christ. Jn 8:12, Dan 2:22, Jn 12:36, Jn 12:46.

6. Meditate on God's word always. Jos 1:8. Obey and follow the truth Gal 2:14,

7. Minister to brethren in need. 1 Jn 3:17. Do all that is good, right & true, things that pleases God.

 

What are the benefits of walking in the light?. As we walk in the light day by day the blood of Jesus Christ carries out a cleansing process in our live's.

1. You will be blessed. Rom 4:7-8

2. Your prayer will be answered by God. Jn 15:7.

3. You will shine and radiate the light. Mat 5:14-15.

4. Sin and shadow of death exposed. Job 12:22. Sin will not have dominion over you. Rom 6:14

 

What are the consequences of not walking in the light?.

1. You cannot receive things of God's spirit. 1 cor 2:14, Rom 8:7.

2. These things will be found in you. Gal 5:19-21.

3. Spiritual and physical death. Act 5:1-11. (Ananias).

4. Name not in book of life. Eternal demnation. Rev 20:15.

5. God's wrath. Rom 2:8,

 

How does one keep walking in the light?.

1. Be renewed in the spirit of your mind. Eph 4:23.

2. Put away lying, speak truth, sin not, forgive. Eph 4:25-32.

3. Walk in the spirit. Gal 5:16-18.

4. Confess your sin and pray one to another Jam 5:16, Prov 28:13.

5. Hating our brother 1 Jn 4:20. Bitterness towards others 1 Jn 2:9-11.

6. No fellowship with others 1 Jn 1:5-10.

 

Conclusion: To work in the light is demanded of christians today. We must be born again to avail ourselves of that power over sin that has been gracefully granted to us by our Lord Jesus Christ. We must guard our salvation with fear and trembling by abiding in Him (Jesus Christ) until the end.
