The Whole Armour of God
Text: Eph 6:10-18
Introduction:
Paul compares the spiritual armour and weaponry we need to a familiar image everyone knew – the armour of a Roman soldier. Many believers are happy to go to church but they do not want to go to War. Once a person accepts Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Saviour, he is enlisted into a Warfare. We are required to put on this whole armour and understand how to use them, without which a believer is in danger. By it a believer is protected from the attack of the enemy and be enabled to deal a death blow to his advance. A christian wardrope includes a war suit. "In the last days--------". 2Tim 2:3 - As a good soldier of Christ, endure hardness.

The Belt of Truth
Just as the belt gathered together a Soldiers armour and secures his sword to his side, so does truth ties together the believers armour. Today, many are like Pilate who asked what is truth?. Truth can be discovered/obscured, accepted/rejected, applied/ignored.

The Breastplate of Righteousness
As the breastplate protects the vital organs of a soldier, so is righteousness essential for the Xtian to avoid a mortal wound. It protects areas of our relationship with God. Christ himself put on this armour.

Feet shod with the preparation of gospel of peace
The soldier's shoe laced up past his ankles gives him traction to stand his ground and advance.

The Shield of Faith
The righteous will live by faith. Faith in God enables the believer to enter the spiritual realm and sees the unseen. Walk by faith and not by sight. Knowing whom you have believed.

Helmet of Salvation
In war, a blow to the head could be fatal without helmet. Salvation includes justification and sanctification. Are you saved?. The assurance of salvation gives us confidence in God in the midst of satanic attack. Jesus died on the cross in other to give us this helmet.

The Sword of the spirit
The word of God is our weapon of defence and attacks against sin. We can never win the battle without God’s book.

Prayer
Is the greatest weapon of all for attack. It must be constant, intense and unselfish. 1 Thes 5:17,

Conclusion:
Believers, the weapons are free. Just put them on and victory is yours. Put on faith(counting on christs victory), righteousness(purity of heart), Truth(Doing truth. Gods word is truth), Salvation(only through Jesus), The word(of God), The gospel(the good news of salvation through Christ), Prayer(the privilege of approaching God for our every need).
