Post-Millenium/White Throne judgement
(Text: Revelation Chapter 20)
Introduction
We have been undertaking some target studies in The Revelation of Jesus Christ to his Church through John. Thank God for this book, it provides the church with answers concerning God’s program and the eventual consummation of this world. How helpless the church would have been without this book. With all certainty, all the things contained therein will be fulfilled. The book contains events to take place from John’s days to and including concluding events ushering in eternity. These events are consecutive, with parenthetical passages inserted between the main events to explain certain things which would happen in parallel with the main events.
In summary, the main events include the Rapture, Great Tribulation (Marriage Supper m parallel) for 7 years, battle of Armageddon, 2nd Coming of Christ and Millenium for 1000 years (Satan bound), Satan’s 2nd opportunity, battle of Gog/Maggog, White Throne judgement, New heaven/Earth and Eternal order.
Millenium/Post-Millenium Events (Zech 12:1-14; 14:1-21; Rev 16:13-16; 19:11-21; 20:1-6).
(i) The Millenium will be ushered in after the great tribulation when Jesus (following his 2nd appearing on Mt. Olives) overthrows the antichrist (at the battle of Armageddon) and then set up his kingdom on earth with Jerusalem as capital for 1000 years.
Qu. 1 List the categories of people who will be with Christ during the Millenium and what will their roles be? (Rev 20:4-6).
(ii) After the Millenium, Satan will be given another opportunity to try the world for a season — the duration of this age is unknown. Rev 20:3, 7-10. It will end at the battle of Gog/Magog when God will send fire to consume Satan and his army.
Qu. 2 Why will God allow Satan a 2~d chance of deception? Will many still follow Satan? Any reasons why? (2 Thesa 2:8-12).
The White Throne Judgement (Rev 20:11-15).
By this time all the wicked (those who refuse to retain God’s knowledge in their hearts and lives) will be dead, awaiting final trial and judgement. This will be a definite, literal and personal trial in God’s court. Bodies in seas or held by death in graves will be united with their souls from hell to stand before God for judgement.
Qu. 3 What will be the basis for the judgement?
Law of conscience/Moses Rom 2:12-16
Gospel of Jesus Acts 17:30-31
Book of life Rev 3:5; Lk 10:20
Personal quality of life Mt 12:36; Rom 2:6-10; Rev 20:12-13
All generations/dispensations of wicked men will be judged!
No escape!! A judgement basis exists for everyone!!!
Qu. 4 Why is this final judgement required when sinners are already condemned?
To enable the sinner/Satan see why the sinner has been condemned.
To give every man a fair trial and a just punishment consistent with his deeds. Mt 11:21-24; Lk
12:45-48. These passages suggest possibly different degrees of punishment, albeit in the lake of fire!!!!!!!
Conclusion
The result of the white throne judgement will be eternal punishment for all sinners in the lake of fire. As sinners will be facing this judgement, the righteous will be warming up for a new eternal order of bliss in the new heaven and new earth. A personal question is "where will you be and what is your place in God’s
program"? I Pet 1:17.
