THE HOLY
SPIRIT - (PART 9)
Memory Verse: “The wise, however, took
oil in jars along with their lamps.”
Matth. 25:4. (NIV).
Bible Passage:
Matthew 25: 1-13.
LESSON
OBJECTIVE
To be able, at the end of the lesson,
to know
i). The importance of oil for light;
and
ii). The power of oil (anointing) for
breaking the yoke.
LESSON
INTRODUCTION
If you want your light to shine, then
you need to fill the lamp with oil. The oil is the life of the lamp. In the
same way, the Holy Spirit keeps the believer shinning or burning for the Lord.
We shall learn more of the use of oil in today’s lesson.
LESSON
OUTLINE 1: OIL FOR LIGHT
a).
In the Tabernacle that Moses built at God’s command, there was a 7-branch
golden lampstand in the Holy Place. It was to be constantly supplied with oil
so the lamp could be kept burning day and night. See Exodus 27: 20-21.
The Holy Spirit can be compared to that
oil which kept the lamp burning all the time.
b).
In a similar way, believers are to shine continually forever, day and night,
nice day as well as difficult day. In other words, they are to shine all the
time. See Matth. 5: 14-16.
c).
The oil is used for setting people apart (or, anointing
people) for the Lord’s use.
See
Exodus 30: 22-33, particularly v.30.
d).
When a person is anointed, such a person becomes a changed
person; a person with a new heart, new grace and gift. See I Sam. 10: 1; 9-11.
LESSON OUTLINE 2:
ANOINTING DESTROYS YOKES
What
does anointing signify and do?
a).
As already stated in c). above,
anointing signifies separation to the Lord for a particular task and divine
equipping for the task.
See
I Sam. 9:16; Isa. 61: 1-3.
b). It keeps the believer
separated for the Master’s use.
See
I Sam. 16: 1; 11-16.
c). The anointing breaks the
yoke.
See
Isa. 10: 24-27; 58:6.
d).
The anointing brings healing – physical, emotional and spiritual.
See
James 5: 14-15; Isa. 61: 1-3.
SUMMARY
The
oil to make the believer’s lamp shine all the time as well as the oil for
anointing is available to you at your request. So, reach out for it now as a
wise one, as delay may result in “dryness” in your spiritual life in this life,
and your eventually being refused entry to the Bridegroom’s wedding banquet.
