THE HOLY
SPIRIT - (PART 2)
Memory Verse: “If you then, though
you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will
your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!" Luke 11: 13 (NIV)
Bible Passage: Luke 11: 1-13.
LESSON OBJECTIVE
To be able, at the end of the lesson, to differentiate between the Holy Spirit and other spirits around, as well as how to be inhabited by the Holy Spirit.
LESSON OUTLINE
1: THE HOLY SPIRIT AS A GOOD WIND
a). What are the different winds of false doctrines that are blowing around these days? Self-centeredness, self-indulgence, gratify your desires, materialism, Grail Message, Brotherhood of the Cross and Star, Eckankar, Amorc (these last four are very common in Nigeria), Lord’s Resistance Army (strong in some parts of Uganda), etc.
The
Holy Spirit is different from the spirits behind all these false teachings.
b).
How can we resist being blown away by the wind of evil teachings? Eph. 4:14.
By each of us being built up in our faith and knowledge of the Lord, becoming mature in Him. The Lord has designed that this process takes place in the context of the gifts He has given to the Church. See Eph. 4: 11-16.
c). How can we receive the Giver of these gifts we read of in Eph. 4 & I Cor. 12:27-28?
By faithfully asking the Father. Luke 11: 9-13.
LESSON OUTLINE 2: HOW TO BE
INHABITED BY THE HOLY SPIRIT
a).
Who can receive the Holy Spirit?
A clean and willing vessel. See Isa. 1: 18-19.
b).
Why would the Holy Spirit dwell in a clean vessel?
Because He is clean and holy. Since we are dealing with a
holy God, we are not surprised that He should choose to use only clean vessels,
or accept only clean sacrifices. See I
Thess. 4: 7-8; Rom 12:1.
c).

What can break the believer’s relationship
with Holy Spirit?
SUMMARY
