SHINNING FOREVER IN HOLINESS  - (PART 1)

Memory Verse:  “What is man that You are mindful of him, and the son of man that You visit him? For You have made him a little lower than the angels, and You have crowned him with glory and honour.” Psalm 8: 4-5.

Bible Passage: Psalm 8: 1-9.

LESSON OBJECTIVES

We should at the end of the lesson

i). Appreciate why God created us;

ii). Maintain God’s purpose in creating us.

LESSON INTRODUCTION

Holiness is the oil that keeps Christians shinning. Remove the oil and soon you will see the light go out. So holiness is the factor that helps us fulfill God’s purpose for our lives.

But what is holiness?

To be holy is to be set apart – set apart from sin and impurity, and set apart to God.

MAN IS CREATED TO SHINE FOREVER

Here we shall spell out the Divine purpose in creating us.

What are the implications of the following facts?

i).   God is light and He dwells in unapproachable light, I John 1:5;  I Tim. 6:13-16

ii).  He created us in His own image, and therefore perfect and good, Gen. 1:27,31.

iii). Having made man, He crowned man with glory and honour, Psalm 8:5.

iv). He made us to be for signs and wonders, Isa. 8:18.

v).  He created us to shine like stars forever, Dan. 12:3.

vi). He created us to be special light which darkness cannot comprehend, cover-up or over come, John 1:5.

What roles does light play? See e.g. Matt. 5:14-16.

HOLINESS IS THE WATCHWORD

Here we shall see the necessity of holiness if we are to shine.

What are the implications of these facts?

i). God is holy, Isa. 6:3.

ii). Some attributes of His holiness are steadfast love, mercy, strength, perfect joy, etc. Rev. 4:11.

iii). God wants us to be holy like He is, and to exhibit the same character as His,

I Pet. 1:14-16.

iii). Our holiness must be entire, or total, i.e. holiness inside as well as outside,                 I Cor. 3:16-17; 6:19-20.

iv). Our holiness makes us blameless before God as we shine like stars, Phil. 2:14-16.

v). If we are holy, by God’s grace all will go well with us, despite the trials and tribulations that we may experience, 3 John 2; Rom. 8:28; Isaiah 43:2.

What else would holiness do for you?

SUMMARY

Holiness and Shining go together – the more holy you are, the more you shine.
