PERSONAL EVANGELISM
(Part 10)
Memory Verse: “He who goes out weeping, carrying seed to
sow, will return with songs of joy, carrying sheaves with him.” (Psalm 126:6). NIV.
LESSON OBJECTIVE AND FOCUS
We shall learn something today
concerning the rewards of soul winners.
LESSON
INTRODUCTION
God, Who does not tell lies (Heb. 6:18; Num. 23:19), has promised
rewards to soul winners. We are dealing with One “…Who does not change like shifting shadows”, taking one course of
action today and changing tomorrow because His resources are running dry. See James 1:17.
We often think of the parable in Lk. 19:11-27 in the context of our need
to fully utilize the talents God has given us because we shall all stand before
Christ’s judgment seat on the last day to give account of our stewardship.
See 2 Cor.5:10. And that is true.
However when we take note of the
occasion for the parable as stated in v.11,
“… He was near Jerusalem and the people
thought that the kingdom of God was going to appear at once”, it sort of
broadens our view to also consider other issues that are associated with the “kingdom of God”. One of them surely is
making the most of our opportunity and responsibility to bring others into
God’s kingdom. If we fail to utilize our “mina”
by hiding it somewhere it will not be comfortable for us when we stand before
the Lord on the day of reckoning.
LESSON
OUTLINE 1: GOD’S PROMISES
TO THE SOUL WINNER
What
are the blessings the Almighty God Who never lies has promised the soul winner?
1.
Supernatural blessings. See
Psalm 126:6; Acts 20:24. What do
these verses tell us about the outcome of soul winning?
2. We
actually see our faith producing tangible results. See James 2:20; 2 Tim.2:2.
What do these verses tell us result from
personal witnessing?
3. What
the Lord says to the soul winner matters.
See Matt. 25:23; Dan 12:3. If we want to hear “Thank you and well done”
from the Lord, what do we have to do?
LESSON
OUTLINE 2: CROWNS ARE AWAITING THE SOUL WINNER
These crowns are described in various
ways.
1. What crown is described in I Thess. 2:19-20, and how do we ensure
we get to wear it?
2. What crown is described in 2 Tim. 4:6-8, and how do we qualify to
wear it?
3. What crown is described in I Peter 5:2-4, and who qualifies to
wear it?
4. What other crown is described in I Cor. 9:24-27, and who is it for?
SUMMARY: We are saved by grace to be enlisted in the Lord’s
service. See Eph.2:8-10. If we
are to wear the crown of a soul winner, let us start by getting properly
enrolled today. We should then go on to serve our Lord and Saviour faithfully,
knowing fully well that our “…labour in
the Lord is not in vain”,
I Cor. 15:58.
