INTEGRITY AND THE LEADER

INTEGRITY:

What does integrity mean to you?

Where do you find these characteristics?

How do you link these characteristics with what God says about us?

Genesis 1: 26 “Then God said, Let us make man in our own image.”

Do you think it is important for us to be like God? .

Sum up what God wants us to be:

Why is integrity important to you?

             1.

             2.

Mention a person of integrity:

Integrity is important only to World Leaders, we are not

important to the wider scheme of things.  True or False

Who is a Leader? ~

INTEGRITY IN THE OLD TESTAMENT:

List those people who you think were people of integrity:

INTEGRITY IN THE NEW TESTAMENT:

The word ‘Integrity’ does not appear in the New Testament except in the NIV and NRSV. Is integrity therefore modelled by the various lives that are recorded in it? We must look for people who walked the walk that Jesus walked and talked. Who are the giants of the New Testament? Jesus is the obvious and first choice, but else? Who can be included on your list?

INTEGRITY AND MONEY

Does integrity has anything to do with managing our finances

Are finances in church and our personal lives a problem

How can we effect change?

WHAT IS OUR GOAL AS PEOPLE OF INTEGRITY?

                             Ephesians 4:24

Where is INTEGRITY important?

COMMITMENT

When a person starts up a business, what are some of the essentials if the business is to succeed? Name 0/ply you three top thou hts.

What is the major cause of failure in any enterprise? ~

What is the ‘number one’ priority when striving for success?

How can you define Commitment?

A commitment is the obligation or pledge to carry out some action or policy or to support a policy or person.

The degree of an individual’s commitment to a particular matter will determinetheenergy,determinationa~rice~theindividu1is willing to expend

Paul J. Meyer wrote in Bridging the Leadership Gap:

“Commitment is the application of sustained effort, controlled

attention, and concentrated energy.

George Soros, a leading stockbroker and investor, listed these as

the most important hints for business success. The first six are:

1.     Overwhelming confidence in one’s own ability

2.  Responsiveness to clients and customers

3.  Ability to motivate people to achieve

4.  Clear communication channels

5.  Recognition as an honest, trustworthy company that has high ideals

6.  A strategic vision for the organisation

What does God want from us? Let us look at Revelations Chapter 2 & 3, which are letters written to the seven churches and tell the churches what God knows of them and what He requires of them:

Church              What God knows                    What God requires

Ephesus
Smyrna
Pergamum
Thyatira
Sardis
Philadelphia

Laod icea

There are factors that refer to the warnings given to the seven churches. The most important refers to Laodicea, where the church is charged with being ‘lukewarm’, which is intolerable to God.

God requires total commitment from His people.

EXAMPLES AND PROFILES OF COMMITMENT:

 Joshua 24: 14—15

1 Sam 7:3

1 King 8:61

Pro 16:3

John 15:10

Acts 2:42

Acts 6:8—15&1:51 -60

II Corinthians 11:23—27

Hebrews 1:11 to 14

THE 80/20 PRINCIPLE                        /

Many of you must have heard of this principle, which was formulated by an Italian economist, Vilfredo Pareto. Simply put, it means that in any given situation, 80% of the work is done by 20% of those involved.

In business, for example, 80% of a company’s revenues are generated by 20% of its products. 80% of a country’s taxes are paid by 20% of the population.

So, c~n we safely say that 80% of our church work is being done by 20% of the congregation who are truly committed?

Where does that leave us? Can we ignite a holy fire in the 80% not fully committed to the Lord’s work?

Matthew 9:37.
