The Knights

The knights of the Lost Kings strive to uphold the virtues, both as British set them forth and as they were in the olden days of Sossaria. When a knight is ready he will take an apprentice to train in the finer points of combat. This squire knight relationship is often a difficult one, as squires can be very headstrong.

The path chosen by our brave warriors can be a long and difficult one. Our fighters are not to be underestimated as group tactics, solo duels and self sufficiency are encouraged and taught to all our members.

Squire

Upon entering the Lost Kings, a player will be squired to a knight, lord or paladin. Knight is preferred, but if none are available you may be squired to a higher-up. You do not have to have any minimum skill level to be a squire; just demonstrate a willingness to play in a group and contribute to the guild as a whole (this is why we usually ask new recruits to travel with us for an evening).

As a squire, your duty is to learn as much as you can from your knight. You should ask questions, develop your skills and your character. We will attempt to squire you to someone who can provide the most insight. If your knight is not serving you well, speak to the guildmaster immediatly and the situation will be remedied. Remember, the knight is there to help you!

After a time, your knight will report you are ready to advance to the guildmaster. Remember that advancing your character is as much (if not more) important than advancing your skills! When you've been recommended of advancement, the Guildmaster will call you before him and you will be tested. The test may be anything; a question, a battle, or some kind of test. If you do well, you will be promoted to knight in a ceremony.

At the ceremony, you will be given a set of chain mail in the guild colors (bronze and shadow). You are not required to wear this armor, but it is highly recommended you wear it to all guild sponsored events. You will also recieve the title of "knight".

Knight

As a knight, you are expected to maintain an overall level of character and skill. You are also expected to contribute more to the guild as a group. This includes being more active in combat as well as recruiting, training, and possibly managing certain guild related tasks or events.

You are not required to pay any tribute to the guild. However, if you demonstrate a willingness to contribute to the guild fund, the guild fund will be more willing to contribute to you should you ever need it. This guild is NOT about coin, so there is NO money policy. If people continue to be resonable, this will continue.

The knights also have a higher priority than squires for storage space in the guild house. A knight may get some space in the guild house to store items, although space is tight and may run out at any time. As a knight, you get a maximum of 8 items (enough for a full suit of armor, a weapon and a shiled).

At some time, a squire will be assigned to you. It is your duty as a knight to see that your squire gets the training he/she requires. This includes training in any areas the squire needs help, usually healing, weapons, and shields. If the squire wishes to advance in areas you don't know about, try to refer them to someone else more qualified, but keep in mind it is still your squire.

Once you feel your squire is ready to become a knight, report to the guildmaster. You may test your squire in any way you want; it's totally up to you. If your squire passes the guildmaster's test, he or she will advance to knighthood. You will also be rewarded with the title of "Vetran Knight". As a vetran knight, you will recieve another set of armor, an exceptional weapon, and an exceptional shield, plus an extra 2 spaces of storage, allowing you 10 items (space permitting).

One can stay a knight as long as they wish. If a knight wishes, they may submit themselves to the guildmaster to become a paladin.

Paladin

When a knight wants to become a paladin, he or she goes before the guildmaster and takes a vow of poverty. This means that the paladins share of all money will go toward the guild. This is only money gained from guild adventures. Any personal money may be kept, however, it is smiled upon to give all money to the guild.

If the guildmaster feels the knight has been a contributing member of the guild for a satisfactory amount of time, the candidate will be tested. The knight will be given a weapon, a shield, a set of armor, and 10 bandages by the guildmaster. They will then face, in turn, each of the elementals. First earth, then air, then fire, then water.

The ceremony for becoming a paladin is a little more involved. After you have been healed from you battle, the guildmaster will ask you a series of questions. Depending on how you answer those questions, you will be titled. The titles will corospond to the virutes based on your CHARACTERS answers to the question. You may be known as Paladin of Honor, Paladin of Spirituality, etc etc. There is a small chance, based on your answers, you will not advance.

As a paladin, you will have first pick of any magic items won by the guild in battle. All your weapons and armor will be supplied to you by the guild from that day forward. You will be awarded plate in the guild colors. You will also take a more active role in guild leadership. You will be bound by your vow of poverty, as well as an expectation of reasonable and level headed behavior. Your loyalty must be unwavering at all times.

Special titles.

Special titles are awarded in addtion to the title of Squire, Knight or Paladin. They include:

Bezerker

Not so much a badge of honor, more as a warning to others. Given when a knight kills a comrade in the heat of battle. (Generally not given out for one mistake, but should it happen more than once).

Heroic:

Given for doing something to save the rest of his comrades that either results in the knights death, or should have resulted in his death.

Lord

The title of lord simply dictates that you are the owner of land used for guild purposes. Lords can be any class from knight up. As a lord, you have
demonstrated that you are a respectable and responsible member of the guild. As the lord of guild land, you will be responsible for ensuring that the
building is maintained. Most of the everyday runnings of the structure are up to you, so that is a benifit unto itself. The guildhouse is considered
to be owned by the guild as a group.

Vetran:

A member of the guild which has trained someone through being a 'squire'.
