| Charcoal Kitty April 1996- March 2008 |
| I had the honor of sharing my home with this magnificient 20 pound cat for 8 years. He was a sweet, cuddly boy with many friends in the neighborhood. He died Wednesday, March 25, 2008, with probable End Stage Kidney Failure. He hid his decline so well that I only realized he was really sick on Tuesday evening. One of my other cats had upper respiratory infection, so I hoped a shot of Baytril and a week of pills would fix him right up. I didn't know the few minutes we had in the treatment room waiting for the vet would be our last. I petted him and talked to him while he purred softly, told him I loved him. I could see in his eyes that he probably wouldn't make it. Char peed in the crate on the way to the vet so Dr. E was able to test his urine which had high protein and glucose levels. The vet kept Charcoal so he could run blood tests to see how sick my cat was. He called me about a half hour later that my beloved Charcoal was dying as we spoke and advised me that we should just let him go. I agreed. And now he is gone. It doesn't seem fair that my beloved boy is dead and shelters all over the country are killing cats by the millions. Good-bye my dear friend. I will miss you for the rest of my life. |
