I have been married to my husband George for 34 years. He is the pastor at Runyan Memorial Christian Church in Latonia. He has also taught high school Spanish in the past. At church I am Chairperson of the Elders and have served on the Christian Education and Worship Committees. My daughter Ashley graduated from NKU with a double major in psychology and biology, and is currently working on her MBA while employed as the manager at CVS Pharmacy in Florence. Aaron, my son, graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a doctorate degree in Pharmacy. He is currently on staff at St. Elizabeth - Florence. |

I began teaching 3rd graders in El Dorado, Arkansas, in 1975--two weeks before the school burned down! What a way to start a career! After moving to northern Kentucky in 1979, I started teaching at Taylor Mill Elementary and have been there ever since (except for one year when I taught Project ASCENT) I have taught sixth grade and combined fifth/sixth grades, but I have been teaching fifth grade since 1982. It is my favorite grade of all! |

A beagle named Bosley seems to think he owns the house, and I tend to believe him. My husband says he is just "precious". He's just like Snoopy when he hops up on the back of the couch, waiting for a cookie or a piece of candy. |

I love to read books! I also enjoy counted cross-stitch. My favorite soft drink is Pepsi. There is nothing better than reading a good mystery, drinking a cold Pepsi, and munching on pretzels. I also enjoy counted cross-stitch. I have made some altar paraments for our church and a baby quilt for my nephew. Both received 2nd place ribbons at the Kenton County Fair in the past two years. My favorite place to go to dinner is Don Pablo's, but I like the Chinese buffet in Latonia for lunch. I am a chocolate lover. I like to go to the ocean; my sister-in-law owns a beach house on Galveston Island in Texas. So recently we have been going nearly every summer to spend some time on the Gulf of Mexico enjoying the beach. My favorite composer is Andrew Lloyd Webber, and no one sings better than Garth Brooks (although I think Josh Groban and Andre Bocelli have beautiful voices). My favorite TV shows are Numb3rs, House, and the CSIs. |

Even though teaching fifth grade keeps me very busy and is the MOST wonderful career I could have, I also have many other jobs at Taylor Mill School. In 1995, I was honored to be selected as Kentucky's Science Teacher of the Year. I am the intermediate gifted education lead teacher, and the intermediate TRT (Technology Resource Teacher)--which means I help other teachers find the best ways to use technology in their classrooms. I have been on the Taylor Mill Site Based Decision Making Council for 15 years, serving as the recording secretary. I coach the Taylor Mill LegoLeague. In 2005 I was named the Elementary Teacher of the Year by the Cincinnati Sector of the American Chemistry Society! In 2006 I was honored to be the recipient of two awards: The A.D. Albright Educator Award and the Golden Apple Award. In 2007 I received the Math Educator Service Award from the Kentucky Council of Teachers of Mathematics. AND, it may be that I have the honor of being the teacher who has been at Taylor Mill the longest. |
