Pat and Mat's Special Chocolate Muffins: Add that little extra chocolate to your boring muffin mix and turn it into Pat and Mats Special Chocolate Muffins! What you will need: Muffin Mix Eggs (if required - see Muffin Mix box) Butter (if required - see Muffin Mix Box). Butter/Baking spray to stop muffins from sticking Large Bowl Muffin Tray Wooden Spoon or Electric Mixer (see Muffin Mix Box) Mini Chocolates (about 20 - by a large party pack) Instructions 1. Buy a Muffin Mix preferably one that in a pre made sachets and simply requires only eggs and water to be added. 2. The instructions on the packet will more than likely tell you to grease only the muffin holes on your muffin tray. When making special chocolate muffins, we suggest either buttering the WHOLE tray or spraying the WHOLE tray, including the edges as ingredients may boil over. 3. Stir the Ingredients and when pouring the ingredients into the muffin holes, make sure they you do not overload the outer muffin holes as they may boil over and onto the oven floor. 4. Add your chocolates into the centre of the muffin mix, a maximum of 2 is suggested. 5. Follow instructions on how long to cook your muffins. 6. Enjoy - be careful, the chocolates are extra hot. FAQ Guide What Chocolates do I use? Mini chocolates, the kinds that you find in chocolate game machines are the best chocolates to put in your muffin mix. You can also use normal chocolates - but make sure they are broken into nice small bits. For the best results, we suggest Flakes, Freddo’s and Carmelo Koalas What Chocolates don't I use? Do NOT use the strawberry filled white chocolate or Camera filled milk chocolate. These chocolates do not allow the muffins to hold, resulting in a horrible glob of uncooked goo! Chocolates with nuts in the middle (such as Chocolate peanuts and Malteses) do not taste very well when cooked. If you are allergic to nuts, please read the label for further information. Most muffin mixes do contain traces of nuts. Why is it so hard to Clean the muffin tray? You did not use enough grease/butter on the ENTIRE tray. If you are stuck in this situation, we suggest a “normal” wash inside a dishwasher. If you do not have a dishwasher, allow the tray to soak in some warm dishwashing liquid for several hours before scrubbing. Should I watch the muffins while they cook? Glance at the muffins every so often. While the packet may say a certain time (usually 15 minutes) there is a minor risk that the muffin mix on the sides may boil over (this is why we stress to limit the mix on the outer holes). You can see this happening, clean up the sides and place back in the oven. How do I know when the muffins are ready? Lighty touch the muffins (and not the chocolates!) with a teaspoon to see if the muffins spring back into shape after touching them. We strongly recommend a fan forced oven!
