We meet twice a month to view a selected title and discuss. This can be anything from a movie such as Spirited Away (Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi), to an actual series like Saiyuki (Gensomaden Saiyuki). Our attendance can range from 13 to 18 members, and attendance is typically mandatory. There is also a $5.00 a month fee that is used to keep up the CAMS anime and manga library.
It is hard to find a place to hang out with friends and watch anime. Our little po-dunk town of Kalamazoo doesn't seem very interested in stepping outside their box of "this is the way we always do it", and therefore places such as ours are few and far between. So it's nice for some nerds to get together with other nerds and talk about "yaoi" "yuri" "otaku" "seiyuu", etc.
There's a lot to anime that people just don't see, and that's fine with us. However, we want to be a club and hang out together, because we don't care what the rest of the world thinks... we love anime! |
