The skeletal material of the extinct giant seacow Hydrodamalis gigas, consisting of a skull and 77 bones, in the Museum für Tierkunde Dresden is briefly described and relevant measurements are given. The skull was obtained in 1891, the skeleton in 1903. Both had been lost during the second world war and were only recollected from Russia in 1982.
