EINE ANALYSE VON GEWÖLLEN DER WALDOHREULE (ASIO OTUS) AUS LIMBACH-OBERFROHNA, SACHSEN - EIN BEITRAG ZUR SÄUGETIERFAUNA SACHSENS
- Analysis of pellets of Asio otus from Limbach-Oberfrohna, Saxony - A contribution to the mammal fauna of Saxony. - In April 2004 pellets of Asio otus were collected from one site in Limbach-Oberfrohna, Saxony and 175 of those were then analysed. Besides of Passeriformes primarily common vole (Microtus arvalis), but also Microtus agrestis, Arvicola terrestris, Apodemus sylvaticus, A. flavicollis, Clethrionomys glareolus and Sorex araneus were found. The spectrum of prey of Asio otus was determined and the composition of individuals and species in individual pellets was recorded. The determined small mammals are all known to occur in Saxony, but for the ordnance map (MTB 5142), in which Limbach-Oberfrohna is situated this pellet analysis yielded new proof of the occurrence of Apodemus flavicollis, A. sylvaticus, Microtus agrestis, Arvicola terrestris, Clethrionomys glareolus and Sorex araneus for which other data are only available from prior to and from 1990.
