| Scenes From A Spazz Attack |
| Author: Reena Email: [email protected] Rating: uh, average, PG15 Liz was not liking how her day was heading. She had just ditched class to listen to her friends complain about their boyfriends in a bathroom. And if she had known that that was what Isabel needed to talk about, she never would have gone. Stupid her, thinking it was an alien thing. Like they even had any problems. No. If anyone had problems, she did. Stupid Alex told Max about that telescope incident where she freaked when her cousin David tried to use it as a rocket launcher. She was beyond hysterical. Her precious telescope being lugged on the shoulder of her Neanderthal cousin... The memory of her monumental freak-out still made her cringe. So now she had missed class and would have to figure out a way to get the missing notes from Mrs. Simons. As she was rounding the corner to head to sixth period she heard the voice of Pam Troy squeaking behind her. It's hard to imagine Liz Parker hating anyone, but she hated Pam Troy. Ever since third grade when Pam ruined her solar system model. So, she was a science geek from the beginning? Not really surprising. But since that incident, there has been bad blood between her and Pam. And today Liz was not in the mood to deal with her. "Well, well. Liz Parker ditching class... Was Max Evans with you?" Liz gave her her best glare. The glare she used to use whenever she saw Tess near Max way back when. "No, actually he wasn't." "Well, too bad you missed the pop quiz." Pop quiz? Liz was speechless as Pam walked past her, looking too smug. A pop quiz! She missed a pop quiz to listen to Isabel rant about Alex. She missed a pop quiz to listen to Maria go down her path of boy destruction. She missed a pop quiz as she watched Tess become a willing accomplice to Maria's plans. She missed a pop quiz to agree to some stupid plan about luring boyfriends out on dates, then ditching them. And worst of all, Pam Troy was the one to inform her of the missed pop quiz. Liz Parker was not a happy camper. Not at all. And as she crossed the threshold into her sixth period class, she spotted Kyle. Which meant she was going to have to hear more girlfriend complaints. As if Michael wasn't punishment enough... Life sucked. And she felt something start to boil under the surface of her skin. Something frighteningly familiar. Something she didn't want anyone else to see... Something like a spazz attack. Oh god. Liz Parker felt the change come over her. She was becoming Spazz Attack. She panicked. She could not have a spazz attack. She just couldn't. Not here. Not now. Not over her stupid friends. Not over missing a pop quiz. A pop quiz that she easily could have aced because she studied last ni-- No! No, she told herself, I am not going to have a spazz attack. I am not going to have a spazz attack. Where was Maria's stupid cedar oil when she really needed it? She could do this. She could fight it. I mean, she thought, I've battled evil aliens and won. I was shot...and was saved... I'm stronger than this... She pushed that spazz attack back down where it belonged and made her way to her seat. She could deal with Kyle. "So Parker...how's the co-dependency with your telescope going?" She could definitely deal with Kyle. "How are your pathetic, but endearing, attempts at apology going?" Kyle Valenti's jaw dropped at the person beside him. She was like a different person. Liz Parker rarely became snappy. But here she was...making fun of him... "Just fine, I'll have you know. Tess is just blowing something little totally out of proportion. And she'll realize it soon enough." Liz always understood the snappy comments that flew out of Maria's mouth. She could just never understand how Maria actually said them out loud. Because they weren't nice. "The only thing Tess realizes is how stupid her boyfriend is acting right now..." "I am not acting stupid. She's the one that's acting stupid. It's all because-" "Of Maria. Got it. It's amazing how it has nothing to do with you-" "Look, I said something dumb. I apologized. But could she just accept it like any normal person? No. No, she had to act all weird like Maria and totally go psycho on her boyfriend. No wonder Guerin's all weird. He's been around Maria too long..." "The Maria defense? That's the best you can do?" "What's gotten into you Parker? Wait. Don't answer that." Liz Parker was not happy that he was referring to an alien thing. Not one bit. The alien thing was like this scapegoat that everyone went to. Not this time. "What's gotten into me is that all of my friends are acting like a bunch of freaks. I'm sick of it. I don't like being in your psychodramas, okay?" Kyle was in awe. Liz was cool when she was angry. Kinda tough. She was even a bit scary. "Okay. Got it. No more psychodramas for Liz Parker." "That's right Kyle." "So what's gotten your panties in a bunch?" "I just told you. All you people are acting like freaks." "I am not acting like a freak. Tess is acting like a freak." "Tess is acting like a freak because you mentioned the bra of another girl who was not your girlfriend." "So what? I don't get it. What's the big deal?" "Would you want Tess to tell you that Max has the same pair of boxers that you do?" Liz Parker watched the realization of why Tess was mad at him washed across his face. "Yeah, didn't think so." "Okay, you are acting all Maria-ish right now." "And what exactly does that mean?" "You're snippy and sarcastic." "So?" "So? You're not usually-" "Like this? Because Liz Parker doesn't get upset or irritated?" "Um yeah. Or, um, no...I don't know..." "Look, Kyle. Today has not been a good day. Mainly due to the fact that you guys are all nuts. And, uh, I just don't want to deal with it right now. Okay?" "O-kay. White flag. I surrender. Just promise not to freak anymore, okay?" A small smile crept across Liz Parker's face. "Okay." "Good." Liz Parker was already calming down. Kyle was going to avoid her. And she had managed to clue him in on what he really did wrong concerning Tess. The order was slowly falling back in the world. Granted, there was still more to be done. But test #1 went fine, which meant she could handle the others if she needed to. It's all about science. * * * * * |
