Short Recaps:  What has happened so far.
During season two, Max's Future self paid a visit to Roswell to see Liz.  He told her she had to make his present self  fall out of love with her in order for the future to be safe for everybody.
At first she couldn't believe it because, well it was just unbelieveable! Anyway, she broke down and all of the hurt and pain  stored away inside her became visible, she just didn't see how she could do that.  She still loved him.  He told her that he and she were married and this caused major problems in the future.  Both Micheal and Isabel were killed and their dynesty was distroyed.
Max also told her that he needed to be married to Tess in order for them to survive.
The first couple of schemes she tried to get him to fall out of love with her were unsuccessful and very funny I might add.  There was just no convincing Max that she didn't love him anymore.  The final try however, was very successful.  Liz arranged for Max to find her in bed with her old love, Kyle.  The look on his face when he saw her was unforgettable.  This started a monoply effect, everything started going down hill.  Liz quite unintentionally, had began pushing Max into Tess's waiting arms and after seeing what was happening and realizing that Max was getting closer to Tess, Liz found a pair of arms to crawl into, that of Maria's cousin Sean.

By season's end, Tess manages to get Max into bed with her.  Liz on the other hand, kept trying desperately to make herself like Sean more than she actually did.  But that wasn't going very well.  Alex is killed and this creates an enourmous gap between the two.  That gap was made wider when Liz accused the aliens of having something to do with his death.  Liz began a crusade to find out just what happened to her best friend.  All the while Max is spending more and more time with Tess. After spending one night with together, Tess becomes pregant and Max is thrown into turmoil.  He had absolutely no idea how to deal with it and no one to talk to.   At one time he could go to Liz but he didn't have her and he always had his sister to turn to but he didn't even have her. Isabel was very upset with him.  She wanted to leave Roswell, to live a life free of her Alien life and he would'nt let her.  Max was alone with his pain and confusion.

Pretty soon, he would discover that the unborn child was dying because of our Atmosphere.  Max lost it!  He broke down in his back yard, while his sister watched completely taken by surprise.  She'd never seen her brother like that before, ever!   She decided to put aside whatever problems they had previouly and reached out to him to let him know that she was there for him.  Pretty soon,
The Royal Four began to make plans for home while the truth about Alex's death is uncovered Via, Kyle. Liz & Maria discovered that Tess used Alex to decode the alien book by mind warping him, this eventually killed him.  Luckily, Kyle, Liz and Maria were able to get the truth to Max and the gang before they could leave our atmosphere.  Max attempted to do away with Tess when she called him a *boy* and Liz a *bitch* but she used the baby angle and he speared her.   He ordered to leave Earth and never return. He soon joined the rest of gang outside of the mountain and they all watched as the ship took off with Tess inside it.  He was happy to be holding Liz in his arms again and he told her that he knew what his true purpose was (loving her) he also had one more thing to worry about, he had to figure out how to save his son.
