Secure with the knowledge that he knew what his blunder was and how to correct it, Kyle Valenti found his temperamental alien girlfriend, Tess Harding, seated at their lunchtime table. Liz Parker and Isabel Evans were seated at the table with her, having an animated conversation.

As Tess saw him approaching, she gave him the same look she did right before she put him on probation. A simply ridiculous idea, in his opinion, given to her by one Looney DeLuca. But he was not fazed by her glare. He refused to be Guerin in this situation and not stand up for himself. He was going to be a man.

"Hey ladies."

"Oh look, it's you. And I thought Maria was going to do more damage. Such a shame."

"Um, we were just leaving."

"No we weren't."

"Yes, Isabel, we were."

"Fine. We're leaving."

"Bye." "Bye." "Bye probation boy."

Kyle silently wondered how Whitman could handle Isabel Evans. But that thought was soon abandoned as he looked down at his girlfriend who was getting ready to leave.

"Hey."

"I don't want to talk to you."

"Come on, Tess."

"No. You are on probation."

"Like I don't know that."

"Don't-"

"Just let me say what I came to say, okay?"

"Go ahead Buddha Boy. Entertain me."

"See, I now realize the error of my ways. I offended you and I shouldn't have and I just wanted to apologize for it."

"You want to apologize?"

"Uh huh."

But Tess noticed something was off. He was a little calm. Just yesterday he was yelling at her for how immature the probation thing was and how Maria was going to pay. And now...well, now he was Buddha Boy.

"So, what are you apologizing for?"

"For referring to my past relationship with Liz in front of you. It was wrong of me."

"Wait a sec. You think that's the problem? That you used to be with Liz?"

"Well, yeah. Considering that little Max thing...but, hey. I'm cool with that. I don't have a problem."

"Oh, you don't?"

Hmm...this conversation wasn't going as smoothly as it was supposed to. He was apologizing for what he said to put her on probation...and she wasn't smiling at him or kissing him. Kyle was getting a little worried...

"No, I don't."

"But I have a problem with you and Liz?"

"Uh, um, I'm not saying that..."

"So what are you saying?"

"I'm just saying that...that, uh..."

"That what?"

Yeah, things were definitely not going according to the plan...

"Look...I came here to apologize for what I said and now you're jumping on me for it?"

"No. You still don't know why you screwed up."

"It was just a comment! I didn't mean anything by it. Why can't you just believe me?"

"It was not 'just a comment.' It was quite a comment."

"What?!"

"You heard me."

"What are you talking about? I apologized to referring to my relationship with Liz. What more do you want?"

"What more do I want? Hmm...let's think. Oh, I've got it! A boyfriend with a clue. Do you see any around here?"

"Huh? For your information, I have a clue. What I don't get is what your problem is."

"Exactly. And that's your problem!"

"What?! Man, you've been spending way too much time with Fruitloops DeLuca..."

"Oh...that's right. Maria's the problem. I forgot."

"You know...you're being...you're...just-"

"Just what?"

"You're nuts. That's what you are."

"Yeah, and you've just upgraded yourself to the dog house!"

"The dog house? What's that?"

"Well, you're just gonna have to wait and find out now aren't you..."

And with that, Kyle watched his crazy girlfriend storm past him. And he was left in a daze. He had such a good plan. He would apologize, she would smile at him, and they would be back together...and he'd rub it into Guerin's face how easy it was for him to get off probation. But no. Instead he'd been assaulting by Hurricane Fruitloops and managed to land himself in 'the dog house.'

He just had one question: What's the dog house?

As Tess stormed past her utterly clueless, "slightly defective" boyfriend, she had only one thought in mind: Find Maria and figure out what 'the dog house' was.
