Have you ever woken up and just knew that it was going to be a great day? It is a feeling that is indescribable - you don?t know where you got it from, yet you don?t care because, already, you can feel a sunny smile curving your lips. That is how I woke up this morning. I hadn?t even gotten out of bed yet, but already I could feel it. It was going to be a great day. With a bounce, I leap out of bed?.and stood straight on the hair brush I had dropped on the floor the night before. Clutching my foot and muttering curse words under my breath, I hop around for a moment before releasing the injured appendage to straight my shoulders determinately. It was going to be a pretty great day. Forty five minutes later, I am rushing out the door, books in one hand and the Jetta?s keys in the other. I was running a little late due to some unscheduled hair problems, yet despite the frizziness, I still have the mood to smile into the dazzling sun. I drop my stuff into the car and throw my head back, spinning around in the driveway. The sun was shining, the bird were singing and?I had to get to school. Sighing, I get into the car and start the engine. It was going to be a fairly great day. I rush into my first class, gaining myself a glare from the teacher, scolding me silently for my tardiness and a smile from Michael?..what? My head swivels around to catch one more glimpse at this rare event. Who would have guessed? The boy had nice teeth. ?And in honour of Miss Deluca, who obviously feels she knows all there is to History, we are going to have a pop quiz,? the teacher announced, smiling smugly at me. I silently groan and , correctly interpreting the murderous glares of my class mates, I slump into my chair, trying to make myself into as small a target as possible. It was going to be a good day. Morning classes pass at the speed of light, and suddenly it is lunch time. Fresh air, sunshine, my friends and Michael?.What more can a girl ask for? Too much in a daze, I am completely oblivious until thump! I walk straight into a lunch tray?unfortunately for me, it is still full. Mystery meat and mashed potatoes are the newest thing in accessories according to Maria Deluca, trendsetter. It was going to be an okay day. A lunch time and a quick change of clothes later (thank God for my gym locker?it is a treasure trove!), it is onto more classes and the completion of the school day. But first, another class with Michael! I slid into my seat and flash him a dazzling smile. He raised his eyebrow in return and turned his head, his lips bowing into a sulk. Uh oh, what have I done now? Glumly, I stare straight ahead. Oh yeah, it was going to be a bad day. School finishes and I stomp to my car. Throwing my things into the Jetta, I get in and start the engine, not even glancing at the flawless blue sky. I glance up and see Michael standing there, looking at me. Sending me a smouldering glance, he turned and walked away. With a furious jerk, I peel out of the car park. It was going to be a terrible day. Home at last, I park the car and, grabbing my stuff, run inside. Calling a hi to my Mom, I hurry into my room and drop my things onto the floor. Taking a running leap, I land on my bed and drag the covers over my head, blocking out the rest of the world. It was going to be a great day?yeah right! Just don?t talk to me. I fall asleep and don?t even wake up when a husky voice whispered in my ear ?I?m sorry? and a pair of strong arms infold me. I wake to sunshine streaming in through the open window of my bedroom and to arms still around me. Turning to meet Michael?s sleepy eyes, I smiled. Yeah, it is going to be a great day. The End |
