Though Colin Hanks is relatively new to acting, he's been around the profession all of his life. Born in 1977, Colin is the oldest son of Academy Award-winner Tom Hanks. He's also determined not to let his parentage pave the way for him. On one of his first auditions for his dad's movie That Thing You Do, Colin didn't even let on that there was any relation. Word has it he even used an assumed name.
Colin, who grew up in Sacramento with his mother. According to disturbing_gurl from FanForum, he attended Sacramento Country Day School in his younger years. She also says that Colin knows her English teacher and is thinking about making a documentary with one of his HS teachers. Colin transferred to Loyola Marymount University in Westchester, CA (after attending Chapman College) before breaking into acting. While in school, he starred in numerous student films and performed in countless theatrical productions. Recently, he stargray on the stage in One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest and Noises Off.
As it turns out, both of his big breaks came within a few days. First he was cast in the upcoming film I'll Be You, an update of Cyrano, then found out that the WB had said yes to Roswell that next evening. He enjoys playing bass guitar in a hip-hop band called The Underlords when he isn't filming Roswell.
Colin is currently dating Busy Phillips, an actress, whom he met in college. She was in the televison series Freaks & Geeks, but the show was recently cancelled, though not before Colin wrote letters and went online in an attempt to save it. He loved the show, and was likley inspired by his Roswellian fans!
