| A New Plan Part 1 |
| Author: Reena Email: [email protected] Rating: uh, average, PG15 Michael couldn't figure out what had just happened. It was Monday. Monday he was immune to Maria's tirades. She liked him on Mondays. Mondays meant lots of Eraser Room time. Mondays were good days for him. Well, they used to be. Somewhere during their lunchtime make-out festivities he managed to say something that pissed her off. The shocking part was that she put him back on probation. Just like that. He'd just cleared his name yesterday, helping her in her mom's weirdo store with all that aromatherapy stuff. Like it wasn't bad enough that he couldn't escape it at home, but he had to spend a good part of a Sunday, missing the game, in order to help her. But he knew the rewards and he missed kissing his nutty Maria...so he did it. But that didn't mean he was whipped. No. Not at all. It just meant he knew what he had to do in order to be kissing her again...that's all. No, Alex and Max-they were the whipped ones. Isabel and Liz totally owned them. And the worst part was, they let them own them. But Maria didn't own him. No, he had a handle on his girlfriend...he did...it just meant...that he usually, uh...hadtofollowherorders. Nothing big, really. And sometimes he said stuff just to piss her off. Because she was downright adorable when she'd go into her little tirades. Scary too, but still adorable. And so he couldn't kiss her for a day or so. It was worth it to see her use her best glares and insults. And it just made the making-up all that much better. Okay, so her 'My Little Ponies' were sometimes hard to not make fun of. He learned how to blow things up with Isabel's when they were little. It was her fault, not his, that he still saw them as things worthy of blowing up. Maria didn't think it was so funny and she didn't believe that it was Isabel's fault. Today, though, today did not go according to the plan. No. Instead, he was back on probation. Like Valenti. And that's just downright pathetic. Because Valenti was just stupid-but he wasn't. No, he just said "the wrong things"-a lot. "Oh, look, it's you." "If it isn't the idiot on probation..." "Funny, really, coming from the guy who sets the trend. What did Maria do, kick you out or something?" "No." Michael realized that that might have come out a little defensive. "So...I see you're on probation, too..." "No, I'm not." "Uh huh. Then what are you doing out here when there's still ten minutes of Eraser Room time left?" "Just taking a walk." "More like a hike. Sucks, doesn't it?" "Huh?" "The way they just put us on probation because we don't say the right thing? As if there is a right thing to say to a girl... I mean...have people met our girlfriends? Walking ads for Midol or something." Whoa. A strange feeling started to overtake Michael Guerin. Like he was bonding with Kyle or something. "So, problems with Tess?" "You know, I went to her and I apologized to her. And do you know what she does? She tells me that I don't know what I did wrong! She totally twisted everything I said and now I'm in the dog house. And all I did was apologize." "You apologized? Wow." "Yeah, I apologized. Isn't that how you get off of probation?" "Well, kinda...but never on the next day...unless-" "You need some action?" "Yeah...but you can never give in that early. They remember things like that." "So what did you do to have DeLuca put you on probation?" "I don't know. She was talking about shopping or something. I don't know what I said...I mean, shopping..." "Girls are so touchy about shopping." "I know. I mean, it's just a store. It has stuff in it. You go in. Get what you need and leave. You don't shop around. You don't look and look in a bunch of different stores. You just-" "Go in and go out. It's so easy and yet-" "They could take like five years and not buy a single thing. I couldn't take it and one time..." "What?" "Uh, nevermind. But Isabel never made me shop with her again." "Not bad. How long ago?" "Four years." "Whoa. You haven't had to shop in four years!" "Nope." "And Maria?" "Has been warned by Miss Isabel herself." "Wow. You're lucky." "Yeah, right. I'm out here talking to you, aren't I?" "You know what? We don't have to put up with this...we could...fight back." "Really? You know something I don't know? Because I gave up after Probation #2 or something." "Nah. We can do this...we just have to come up with a good plan." "Valenti. They aren't talking to us right now..." "But eventually...they cave eventually, right?" "I guess so." "You guess so?" "Well, yeah..." "So when they cave, we just hold strong. That's the plan." "Tried it. Next day she wore a halter top." "Oh... Well, I'm sure you could hold out-" "And her hair up. She sits in front of me in History..." "Hmm. Okay. Could you do it if you had to?" "If I had to? What are you talking about Valenti?" "You know...like guys standing up for guys. You don't touch Maria and I don't touch Tess. We'll see who caves first." "Maria has like 7 halter tops..." "So does Tess. At least..." "And short skirts..." "Look, man. We can either take their abuse or band together. I'm sick of being her Dog-boy." "Well, it would be really fun to teach Maria a lesson..." "Can't argue with you there. So are you in?" "You know what? What the hell, I'm in." And that's how it came to be that two very brave (or very stupid) young men decided to put their girlfriends on probation. They had a plan. They just had to resist their girlfriends, that's all. They just had to resist Tess Harding and Maria DeLuca. They didn't have a clue what they were in for. But they were definitely going to get some help from their friends. * * * |
