Note: These officers had more to fear than the rest. By South Carolina law, any leader of a "Slave Revolt" was subject to hanging. Since they were leading troops defined as "RunAway Slaves", they could have been leagally hung. There is no record of any such hanging nor is there any indication they were trated any differently than the other POWs.
