BSc Hons ( Physics) from DN College, Meerut University ( 1975) with a number of prizes in acdemics, cultural and science- and sports- competitions imcluding I position in class, Best Debator of college, Chief Student Editor of college magazine, Hockey captain, Gen Secretary of Physics Association and Secretary of Debating Society.. MSc from University of Roorkee ( 1977) with Meteorology as special paper. Jt. Secretary of the Physics Association, Debating section and Best in Cultural-Literary activities ( Azad Bhawan0 and Gen captain ( Azad Bhawan ). For doctoral work, joined the Mass spectrometry Laboratory of Geocosmophysics Group of Physical Research Laboratory, Ahmedabad. Submitted thesis ((1983 ) . PhD awarded by Gujrat University ( 1984). Merit Scholarships and National Scholarship during 1966-1975 and Research Fellowship during research followed by Postdoctoral fellowship at PRL. Worked at the Radiometric Dating Group Group at Birbal Sahni Institute of Palaeobotany, Lucknow as Senior Scientific Officer ( 1985-92) and later Asst. Director / Scientist-D. INSA -DFG Fellowship to work at Max Planck Instu\titutes at Heidelberg and Mainz ( Germany ) during 1989-90..
Published about 30 research papers in international and other journals like ApJ, EPSL,Geophys Rev Let. and Proc L P Sci Conf. Attended about 30 national and international conferences in India, france, Germany and USA. Also visited UK and Switzerland. Delivered seminars at University of California at San Diego, Universitat Berne, Max Planck Insttitut ( Heidelberg), Univ. Koln and Univ. New Mexico and at many institutions in India.. Delivered invited talks in National Workshops on Mass spectrometry .
Awarded INSA medal for Young Scientists ( 1988), I prize for presentation by India Society for Mass spectrometry and selected and supported by Meteoritical Society, USA ( 1984 ) to attend its 47th meeting and present paper. A Fellow of NCSTC Network ( New Delhi ), Awarded ' Vigyan Vachaspati' by Vigyan Parishad ( Allahabad )-1997,Science Club Barabanki ( 1995), UP Vigyan Sancharak (Science Club, Allahabad and VICAS)-2001, Vigyan Ratna (Meerut Science Club and Pragati Vigyan Sansthan)-2002, honoured by Rotary Club Meerut ( 1990), Shivalik College ,Punjab ( 1998 ), Central Instt for Medicinal and Aromatic Plants ( 1996), for contributions to Science and its popularisation. On the Research Advisory Board of American Biographical Institute, USA ( 2000, 2002).
A number of popular science articles, science poems, Activity Guide books and popular science and science communiation lectures ( about 100)to credit. On the Panel of National Council for Science and Technology Communication as an expert on science communication. Lectured in Gujrat, Himachal,Madhya Pradesh,Manipur, Punjab and UP. Known for contributions to science popularisation through radio talks and discussions ( aboout 20 ) TV programmes ( about 35 ) through scripting documentaries, discussions, interviews, compering, research and live and recorded commentaries including one on the Total Solar Eclipse-95. Convener, NCSTC-Network (2001,2002),General Secretary, Nat. Children's Science Congress ( UP) and Nat. Co-ordinator (1999, 2000)for the same. It involves about half a million children and teachers in the country. A high ranking five star rated Expert in askme.com in the Physics, Meteorology and Extra terrestrial section ( as on Aug-2000). Have published several cartoons in national newspapers, won prizes in several Photography competitions .
