| Titanic, Concord,Krusk...what in common? |
Hello!! My name is Miguel and I work in a Gas Control Center as a supervision controller. I like History, and having the responsibility of controlling Gas at high pressure, safety is my number one concern. That is why I think that accidents like the Titanic, Challenger, Chernobyl, Concord or Kursk submarine have a lesson to teach to mankind. The adjectives ?The Best? ?The most advanced? were used so often, to describe any of the disasters mentioned above. So let's learn something to avoid repeat them again in Future. |

| History does repeat itself... |
| If you think about all these accidents, you'll easily find that there are many factors in common that led to such loss of lives. The problem is that if these factors are not considered, History will repeat itself till Mankind finally learns the lesson. - Titanic and Chernoby accidents, for example, ocurred during night shift, when the human due to working hours supposed to be resting hours, is suitable to more errors. - Budget and financial situation is also a major incident factor, when due to delays, results are expected at �Any cost�. You find, Challenger and Kursk with this similarity: Challenger had defective parts in the main propulsion rockets (seal rings) that lead to a leak in the fuel system and consequent explosion; Kursk had very high costs of maintenance and development, something that, Russian economy as difficulties to afford. Finally, the Concord accident wasn�t the first time to take place. On the past, at least one Concord aircraft had an emergency landing due to a major fuel leak. But at that time, no measure were taken to avoid having the same situation repeated.The �costs� for redesigning and producing new protective parts for the landing gear were �too expensive�. In your life, in your job, it is possible for you to have a Challenger, Chernobyl or Concord passing in your way, repeating �History again� � And you can stop it. |
