Emily Bloss graduated as the most decorated student-athlete in Emporia State History. The Wellsville, Kan. native was honored with four national student-athlete of the year awards including the Daktronics Division II Player of Year Award. She was named Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year by NCAA Division II Conference Commissioner Association and along with Notre Dame’s Ruth Riley was named Verizon Academic All-American Team Member of the -Year. Bloss won the MIAA’s Ken B. Jones Award as the conference’s female student athlete of the year and was named the NCAA Kansas Women of the Year. She was also the Emporia State Female Student-Athlete of the Year. On the court, Bloss was a first-team All-MIAA performer was the league’s Most Valuable Player- the 5th straight year a Lady Hornet earned that honor. She finished her career as ESU’s 2nd leading scorer with 1,915 points and 4th leading rebounder with 823 boards. Both of those totals place her in the top 10 in MIAA history (10th in scoring & 8th in rebounding). Bloss missed one game in her four year career at E-State and the lady hornets were 119-10 in games in which she played. Her 119 wins are the most by a basketball player in ESU and MIAA history.
