Arsenal

Arsenal, one of the best teams on CM, no doubt. Kanu and Bergkamp will be your main assets and also your main source of goals. You will need to bring in a few good defenders to strengthen your defence. Arsenal have just under 15 million to spend so if you really want to bring in some world class defenders youll have to sell the very much over rated forwards Sylvain Wiltord. (he usually goes to PSG for just under 10m) Arsenal are best suited to a 4-4-2 formation playing a flat defence of Adams, Keown, Luzhniy and Silvinho. All though if you decide to play a 4-1-3-2 formation Silvinho could adapt to the defensive midfield role. Arsenal have the ability to dominate the globe its just a matter of finding the right tactics, players and manager.

Aston Villa

Aston Villa could be considered an over rated side but there not, if anything there under rated, they have the possibilities to become world beaters in the first few seasons. The likes of Lee Hendrie and Gareth Barry plus a very healthy bank balance should be enough to secure some sort of silverware in the first season. I recommend that you play a 3-5-2 formation as Villa have some great defenders , they also have a lot of defensive midfielders, the best of these you should put in your midfield playing a holding role. The attacking midfielders should basically play as extra forwards. (there should be around 2 attacking midfielders) The people who usually play the attacking midfield roles are David Ginola and Lee Hendrie. You shouldnt need to spend big money on strikers as Villa have some great strikers in the form of Luc Nilis, Julian Joachim and the extremely versatile Dion Dublin. NEVER play Dion Dublin in Midfield. Defenders/Strikers are not midfielders. I found this out the hard way.

Bradford City

Bradford City one of my favourite teams on CM, they can become giants (BUT THEY NEED THE RIGHT MANAGER). Bradford may seem like a boring team but they are the exact opposite. PLAYERS TO KEEP/PLAYERS TO SELL .Keep :Dan Petrescu he should play a major part in Bradfords chase for success .Matt Clark ,Ian Nolan ,Andy Obrien ,Stan Collymore (if youve got an update) .Sell: Benito Carbone (you should get a lot of money for him), David Hopkin (Again you should get a lot of money), Peter Atherton ,David Wetherall (or you could give him a coach job), Peter Beagrie ,Aidan Davidson. Bradfords best formation is 4.1.2.3 . If I were you I would buy Sebastian Rozental from Rangers .Do all these things and you will make Bradford Giants and even...The team to beat!

Charlton Athletic

Charlton are probably the worst team in the Premiership and if I was not managing them they would be my main tip for relegation, but with some work you can keep them in the Premiership. Charlton have 6.5m to spend. I recommend that you by someone who is well known and a good solid midfield. Charlton need strengthening in every department but I would start with the midfield I would immediately try and sign either Gary Speed or Colin Cameron from Hearts as both are very solid players. If you cant sign these players then check out the free list, I recommend that you go for Mutiu. Charlton should play with a 5-3-2 attacking formation as they dont have any great keepers and they need to have a very strong defence. They need that one midfielder to hold the middle together and youll need to bring in one bargain forward. I recommend Al Nassrs Ahmed Bahja, a steal a 250k. In conclusion I think Charlton should concentrate on staying up in there first season and then try and build on that.

Chelsea

Chelsea have already got the team that can go all the way. The likes of Zola and Flo will provide masses of goals for you and you already have a very strong midfield with the likes of Stanic, Poyet and Dennis Wise. Chelsea have just over 16m to spend but this could be knocked up to 30 million if you sell correctly. Deasilly will go to a big Italian side for just over 16m and Mario Melchiot goes to Ajax for around 12m. I recommend that you sell both of these players because there not the best but bring in lots of money. Chelsea are best suited to a 4-1-3-2 formation with Jon Harley filling in the Defensive midfield position. Although Chelsea already have a great squad of players theres still room for improvement and with 30 million to spend take your pick. You will need to strengthen your midfield if you decide to sell Di Matteo (I would, he generates another extra 12 million) then your going to need to bring in some talent. I would send my scouts out to Scandinavia and South America to try and pick up some talented youngsters. In conclusion if you use the right tactics and buy the rights players then you will do know wrong with Chelsea. Chelsea are probably the best team in the Premiership and will win major honours in there first season.

Coventry City

Coventry are a team who are expecting a battle against relegation in there first season...scrap that idea your going for Europe, with your playing squad relegation shouldnt even enter your mind. Try and base your team round the two Moroccans, Youssef Chippo and Mustapha Hadji. These two players will be the heart of your four man midfield. Coventry play with a flat 4-4-2 formation, no attacking, no defending. Coventry have 8.25m to spend so I recommend that you strengthen your attack and defence, bring in Nikos Liberopoulus from PAO for 8.25m and then sell the massively over rated Craig Bellamy to some poor fools. You then need to concentrate on your defence send those scouts out to South America, Scotland and Scandinavia and click filter all defenders. You should be left with a list of good South American, Scottish and Scandinavian defenders. Choose the best hceapist player and you will be on your way.Note:Players who were born in Birmingham always raise there game in the derby matches against Villa.

Derby County

Derby County are a team with some potential but hardly ever live up to it. If you sell wisely and keep your best players at the club then theres not much you can do wrong. Derby are definitely best suited to the 4-1-3-2 formation, in fact this formation was made for Derby. The defensive midfield role is designed for Seth Johnson. The best Defensive midfielder on the game. Derby have some great attackers in the form of Deon Burton and Esterban Fuertes. These two will score about 40 goals combined a season. When you look at the Derby midfield you see where the problem lies, there midfield is terrible. Kinkladze and George Burley are both good players, but not good enough for the premiership. Derby arent exactly rolling in the money either, they have a healthy and secure balance and 6 million in the transfer kitty. I recommend that you sign a talented, well known and already established midfielder to hold your midfield together, once this has been done you should easily be able to avoid relegation and you may even find your team competing for a European place.

Everton

Everton are a team that take a lot of stick for seemingly know reason. This is what I thought when I took my first look at their squad. I thought they had a European quality side. With the likes of Niclas Alexandersson to build their squad around they cant do much wrong. Everton adapt well to a 4-4-2 formation. With a flat back four of Steve watson, Abel Xavier, Richard Gough and Michael Ball. (if you can keep hold of him) Then comes the midfield try and keep Alexandersson fit and healthy and try and keep him on the general training regime. Youll have to build your team round him. He plays on the left side of two central midfielders, along with Steven Hughes this should complete your midfield. Try and play Gascoigne and Joe Max-Moore on the wings. Then it comes to the forwards, a straight Francis Jeffers and Duncan Ferguson attacking force should do the trick. Everton do have quite a bit in the transfer kitty, 8.25m. So I try and make some good signings and get my scouts out to Scandinavia and South America and see if I can find any future stars. Everton have the team and the chairman to go all the way on CM its just a matter of finding the right man for the job.

Ipswich Town

Ipswich Town, one of the promoted sides! Many people would think that theyd be a walk over, but there not they could easily compete for Europe or even the title (maybe a bit to ambitious) in there first season. They have loads of talented players and even some reserves that will fetch a good price. Neil Midgeley will go to a first division side for just over one million, if you negotiate well. There is also the best part of 13 million in David Johnsen, if you want to sell him. There best tactic like most teams is the 4-1-3-2 with Matty Holland playing in the DMC role as your playmaker. This is a must you must play conservatively away from home and sign wisely. I recommend away from home you play short passing and pressing but at home just add an attacking style of play to these team instructions. Ipswich are a team with immense potential if you play with them as you should. I recommend you sign Mutiu of the free list to hold your midfield together. You do have quite a chunk of change to spend with Ipswich, 7.75m.

Leeds United

Leeds have the most promising team in the Premiership but that doesnt necessarily mean that there the best team at the moment...and there not. Never the less they are a great team and could easily win the Premiership in their first season. They have a very good team and adapt well to a 4-1-3-2 formation. You should keep a good flat back four; Martyn in the net, Woodgate, Harte, Radebe and Dubbery usually help cancel out a lot of goal scoring opportunities. Either Oliver Dacourt or David Batty will be able to handle the defensive midfielder role. Kewell, Bowyer and Wilcox will suit your midfield ok and then Viduka and Alan Smith will score the goals. Despite having a great team Leeds still expect improvement and your allocated 24m to spend so you can still improve almost every aspect of your squad. Leeds have the potential to be the best team in the world.

Manchester United

Man Utd are said to be one of the best teams in the world. As we already know they are the richest team in the world and that is what can make a manchester united season fun! You have around 40m to spend and your team is already pretty solid except for the Neville brothers, i would always think about spending a bit of your money on a couple of defenders. You have Beckham, Giggs, Cole, Yorke, Scholes, Solskjear as your main players in your team and they are some of the greatest players in the game. Their isnt much that man utd havnt done in the footballing world except for win every compotitiian they enter and if you could do that then you are a supirior manager. The best formation to play with man utd is 5-3-2 or 3-5-2 as Beckham and Giggs will be able to provide from both sides, and Cole and Yorke to bang in all your goals, they will normally average about 35 beetween them a season. It is quite easy to do a man utd game, but could you make them the Undisputed champions of the world.

Manchester City

Manchester City are a mid table team and are quite well of when it comes to the money area. They are not european quality yet and their is still room for improvement in nearly all areas. They have a futre England Keeper Nicky Weaver who if he has the right defense infront of him will not let you down. Try to hang on to your youth team as they all look pretty promising. With defenders such as the new signing Alf Inge Haaland and their solid center back Wiekens you should be able to fend of alot of premiership attacks. It would take alot to get Manchester City to be as good as their local rivals Manchester United. The best formation to play with Man City is 5-3-2 as your 2 wing backs will be the source of your goals. I would always invest in a couple of center midfeilders and a striker that can score you goals, for such players i would reccomend a scandinavia and brazilian search or you could just buy Ahmed Bahja and Alex Aguinaga as they both did the job for me. You should be aiming to reach europe by the end of your 3rd possibly 4th season.

Middlesbrough

Middlesbrough are a highley thought of team in the premiership with some excelent players, and rely on them too they have their new signing Croatian superstar Alen Boksic and EX Real Madrid polayer Christian Karambeau who can score goals with his eyes shut. They are normally in the top half of the league come the end of each season but are not good enough to be a serious contender for the league title as they will need major investmant in their midfeild. You have about 12m to spend and i reccomend you spend it wisely as it will soon run out. I reccomend you get a couple of central midfeilders and a left winger as that seems to be their weekest side. Their is no-need to buy premiership rejects as they will be no good to you, you will need to take a trip to spain or italy and bring back players like Guily from AC Milan and Alain Bogghoisan from Parma. It is best to get some top players from Italy and Spain in the Bosman time as Italy and Spanish clubs seem to let their players leave once their contracts expire. The best formation for Middlesbrough would have to be a flat 4-4-2 as they have not quite got the team to go all out from their midfeild and create goals from the back. You should also bring in an attacker of the same quality as Boksic as he cant score them all on his own he needs somebody to keep up with as he is comming on a bit.

Newcastle

Newcastle United are a very wealthy club and never seem to underperform. Your main assets to the club will be Alan Shearer and Carl Cort to get your goals. The midfeild will be Dyer to control it and Stehpen Glass also a solid player also they have Bassedas and Solano who can keep carm under pressure. You will have about 20m to spend and believe me when i say you will not need hardly any of it as your team is solid and is already looking like it will qualify for europe. If you think you feel it is right to make a challenge for the title in season 1 then you will have to bring in a couple of world class players to improve your team even more. the best formation to play would be 5-3-2 or 4-1-3-2 depending on whether you are playing home or away.
