Argentina

Info: The Argentine league is definitely a challenge as long as your not Boca or River. These two are the most dominant and have been for a while now, there's know competition for players like Ortega, Aimar, Palmero, Riquelme, etc. Most of them Argentine internationals. Although the Argentine league has a few decent teams and players it is nothing special and wouldn't be that entertaining for a neutral player.

Division Stars: Ariel Ortega, Javier Saviola, Juan Pablo Angel, Pablo Aimar, Juan Pablo Sorin, Martin Palmero, Juan Roman Riquelme.

Difficulty Rating 6/10: Will be very hard if your not playing with either Boca or River.

Australia

Info: The Australian league is a recent addtion, added to CM 00/01 by Sports Interactive. It has to be one of the worse leagues on the games as there is know major talent. The Australian league is circulated around the two main team South Melbourne and Perth Glory. Car;ton SC sometimes come into the frame but very rarely. Each of these teams are about as good as a very mediocare first division team, this is all to obvious when an Australian team participates in The Fifa World Club Championships, they are usually decimated by the likes of Real Madrid and Corinthians. Perth Glory and South Melbourne are both on the plus side of debt, they have 2m to spend. Yet you wont find any really good players joining this division. Its all to obvious that the two best players in the division are Australian Simon Colosimo and the Brazilian Alex from Northern Spirit. The Australian league is only there for Australian people to play, it is not a good league for a neutral player.

Division Stars: Simon Colosimo, David Lee, Alex

Difficulty Rating 9/10: Near on impossible to win the league with anyone other than Perth Glory or South Melbourne, no real trasfer funds available and no great players in the division.

Belgium

Info: The Belgian league is a mixture of good and crap players. The two big teams in the division; Club Brugge and RSC Anderlecht are gonna be the only two team challenging for te league title as there the only teams who have the funds to attract a few decent players and they already have sides that cn cope with the Belgian league. There are also two UEFA cup places available, these will more than likely go to Standard Liege and Racing Genk. The Belgian league isn't host to an abudance of experienced stars yet after a few years this league will blossom into one of the finest leagues in the world. With the youngsters at Club Brugge that will attract the likes of Manchester United, Lazio, Reak Madrid, etc. These players will be near on impossible to keep hold of as the Belgian league doesn't seem to have much of an appeal, you will see a lot of your youngsters jetting of to the Netherlands and France.

Division Stars: Jan Koller, Nzelo Lembi, Michael Gossens, Ivica Mornar, Nenad Jestrovic, Gaetan Englebert.

Difficulty Rating 5/10: Starts of as a very hard division to win but give it a few years and with all the great young talent Belgium possesses you will find your team competing for major European honours.

Brazil

Info: The Brazilian league has to be one of the most exciting leagues on the game as there is so many teams that could possibly win the league; Corinthians, Sao Paulo, Vasco Da Gama, Gremio, Flamengo. The Brazilian league is also host to a mass of stars, the likes of Ronaldhinio at Greamio and that old war horsse Romario at Botafoga. The Brazilian league also has the appeal to attract some of the best players in the world. At the start of the year the likes of Alex, Fabio Junior, Denilson and Edmundo are all on loan at some of the big Brazilian clubs. There is also some great competitions in the Brazilian league, such as the Copa Libertadores and the Copa Mercosur, these competitions bring the teams from Argentina, Brazil and all the other South American countries together. This is great as we get to see the likes of River against Sao Paulo.

Division Stars: Romario, Ronaldhinio, Edmundo, Denilson, Alex Fabio Junior, Franca , Roni.

Difficulty Rating 8/10: A very difficult division to win for the simple reason that there is so much talent and so many team could possibly win the league, a lot of suprise results in this division as well all go together to make one of the most exciting divisions on the game.

Croatia

Info: The Croatian league, another of the new leagues added in CM 00/01. Theres know doubt that the three main teams in Crotia are NK Dinamo, HNK Hajduk and NK Zagreb. There isn't an abundance of talent coming out of Croatia but there is some good players. The likes of Tomislav Sokota, Igor Biscan, Igor Cvitanovic, Bosko Balaban, Zoran Pavloic all from NK Dinamo can perform well in some of the biggest leagues in the world. There isn't much contest in the rest of the Croatian league which is a little disappointing as this would definetely make it a better league all round and would help attract the better players to Croatia. There isn't a lot of money in Croatia either, the most you can expect from s big team is around 2m.

Division Stars: Tomislav Sokota, Igor Biscan, Igor Cvitanovic, Bosko Balaban, Zoran Pavloic, Jasmin Agic, Ivan Leko

Difficulty Rating 7/10: A division that has some potential, almost impossible to win in your first season if your not NK Dinamo, HNK Hajduk or NK Zagreb. This would not be much fun for a neutral player although would pose a big challenge.

Denmark

Info: The Danish league is a fairly good league, as all avid CM players will know that some of the best players in the game come from Central Europe and Scandinavia and Denmark is know different, it has an abudance of talented players in all of it's divisions. The best player in the Danish league has to be AB's talented defensive midfielder Brian Steen Nielsen. The three big title contenders for the Danish PL have to be Brondby, (Brondbyernes Irdaets Forening) Herfolge (Herfolge Boldklub) and FC Kobenhavn. The most notable of the three teams have to be Kobenhavn, Denmark's most well known team and biggest European success.

Division Stars: Steen Brian Nielsen, Thomas Andie, Anders Andersson, Henrik Rasmussen, Krister Nordin.

Difficulty Rating 6/10: Could be considered a hard league with the three main teams Brondby, Herfolge and Kobenhavn. Yet there is still a chance for the chasing pack as Denmark have some talented players who aren't already at the top.

Netherlands

Info: Theres know doubt about it the Dutch leagues have some of the most talented players in the world. There isn't one CM fanatic who hasn't seen the talent that Christian Chivu from Ajax has, dubbed "best defender on the game" by many. Theres two teams who will be battling it out for the title; PSV and Ajax. European giants Ajax have slipped out of the spotlight in recent years but they still possess a wide array of talented players. Brutil Hose a very young, very talented player who starts of in the reserves. Has a great future ahead of him but sometimes it can be hard to keep hold of him. Christian Chivu; everyone knows about him, the best defender on the game but he costs a packet, Ajax will keep hold of him for a long time as he has love for the club. PSV are not to be under estimated though, these could easily be the suprise package of the Dutch league. They have the unforgettable Ruud van Nistelrooy. (injured) They also have great strength in depth they don't have many other world beater but there a team that have a bunch of players who will player there hearts out for the club, this is why they do so well year after year. Not to be under estimated; Willem II, Feyenord and Herenveen may also pose threats but will more than likely be competing for those 2 Uefa cup spots. The rest of the league is realtively weak but have a few good players, buy them quickly to stop the possibilities of any un-wanted competition.

Division Stars: Brutil Hose, Christian Chivu, Ruud van Nistlerooy, Arnold Bruggink, John Dahl Tommasson.

Difficulty Rating 4/10: Hard to win with any other than the 5 main teams, Ajax are the excitement team of the division and will score bags full of goals, PSV would be the outsiders bet though. Money is know object in the Netherlands.

England

Info: As if you didn't know, well if you didn't here goes. The English league is based around one team, Manchester United. Actually unlike in real life it's not, the English league is wide open and could be won by four teams; Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea and of course Manchester United. Manchester United are the team to beat, David Beckham and co, the best midfield in the world will provide a stern test for anyone. Arsenal are the next big team who are in the title chase year in year out and always take Man Utd to the wire, the Wenger boys do have great finances that could be improved vy the sale of over rated Sylvain Wiltord to PSG for around 10m. Then theres the Italian stalians Chelsea, they have a great squad, great finances and a patient chairman, Chelsea would be the outsiders bet to win the Premier League. Liverpool sometimes come in to the frame along with Leeds if they spend there money wisely. There are know really weak teams in the Premiership with the acception of Charlton who's only chance of staying up is playing 11 at the back and hope for a 0-0 draw every game or make some great signings with the 6m in transfer funds they have. Most Premier League teams are extremely well endowed and have money growing out of there ears but be careful as having a lot of money may cause you to make some bad signings. The UEFA cup battle is extremely heated as theres only one UEFA place and an Inter toto up place. This battle is usually thoguht by Leicester, Aston Villa and Newcastle.

Division Stars: Ryan Giggs, David Beckham, Patrik Vieira, Thierry Henry, Jermaine Wright, Alan Shearer.

Difficulty Rating 3/10: Not a hard league to win as most people know the English league very well and can sort out a tactic and the right players for the job.

Finland

Info: No doubt about it, theres only two teams in Finland and thats the way its been for ages. HJK Helsinki and FC Haka leave everyone else in there tracks. There miles ahead of the pack. No Finnish side are extremely well endowed but at least Helsinki and Haka aren't in debt like a lot of Finnish teams. Like a lot of the added leagues the Finnish league doesn't have any world beaters yet it does have a few neat players who play well in the Finnish league. There no major cup competitions in Finland and wouldn't be a very good league for a neutral gamer to participate in.

Division Stars: Janne Saarinen, Antti Sumiala, Shefki Kuqi, Vesa Vasara, Janne Salli.

Difficulty Rating 8/10: Extremely hard division to win unless your FC Haka or HJK Helsinki. The rest of the teams in the division aren't very good and have debt problems.

France

Info: The French league is a huge disappointment in real life and on CM. There are no world class players based in France which is a shame as France are the World and European champions and you'd think that they'd have a few decent players based in France. The two tope teams who will be fighting it out for the French championship are Monaco and Paris Saint Germain. PSG are the only team who have a few half decent players; Nicolas Anelka former Arsenal and Real Maddrid goal machine chips in with goals all the time and is the major threat in the division. There are a few fringe teams in France such as Nantes, metz and Strasbourg, all seemingly take it in turn to have a UEFA cup campaign. Monaco are the dark horse of the league, much like PSV in Holland they plug away seemingly un-noticed the likes of Martin Djetou and Marco Simeone aiding to the cause.

Division Stars: Stephane Dalmat, Viroel Moldovan, Christian, Romain Ferrier, Marc-Vivien Foe

Difficulty Rating 7/10: Hard in some ways depending on which team you choose if you choose PSG and use the wright tactics then your a shoe in, you should easily win the league. There is quite a lot of money in French football yet not many of the big stars will leav Italy, England and Spain to go to France.

Germany

Info: There's only one team in Germany I here you say. Well its not true, theres so many good teams in Germany. I'll admit that Munchen are the biggest and probably the best team in Germany but the other teams will certainly push Bayern to the wire. Bayern have the likes of Giovannie Elber and Bixente Lizarazu who sets the German league a light in almost every CM gamer. Bayern try to sign every German player outside the Bundersliga; Steeffan Freund, Dietmar Hamann, Christia Ziege, etc. There are also some contenders to Bayerns throne now in the form of Bayern Leverkusen and Borussia Dortmund both pay very un-orthadox tactics but their very effective. The German big guns are very well endowed, most supporting a 10m plus bank balance. Dortmund Jorg Heinrich the German equivalent of Tony Adams is great on the game. Dortmund have a great starting 11 but know sttrength in depth, they will easily fall out of the championship frame after a few injuries and their chairman will be content with a UEFA cup spot.

Division Stars: Alex Alves, Jorg Heinrich, Jan Nico Hoogma, Andreas Jakobsson, Niels Oude Kamphuis, Ralf Weber.

Difficulty Rating 8/10: Very hard to break down the immortal Bayern Munchen when they get into there stride, spend wisely.

Greece

Imfo: The Greek league is suprisingly good and competitve and has a wide range of young talented Greek footballers. The best have to be Iraklis' Mihalis Konstantinou and Panathnaikos' Nikos Liberopoulos. Olympaikos are the best team in the division the have experience on the European stage and there history speaks for itself. I think that despite all Olympaikos credentials that Panathinaikos are the better teeam, basically thanks to, two players, Pflipsen and Liberopolus these two are like dynamite there firing on all cylinders in every game usually averaging a rating of 8. Iraklis don't offer much in the way of a championship or Uefa spot challenge. There are to many weak sides in the Greek league which is a bit of a shame as a bit more competition could see it develop into a major league.

Division Stars: Mihalis Konstaninou, Nikos Liberopoulos, Karlheinz Pflipsen, Vassilis Tsartas, Zizi Roberts.

Difficulty Rating 6/10: Really depens what team you are if your gonna be one of the unknown teams from Greece ( i strongly suggest you don't) thne your gonna need to be a bloody good manager. Managing a lower league side from Grrece will test any managers skills and patience levels, its better for a manager to manage a team like Panthinaikos ho have a great team and can one day win the Champions league. (believe me, i've done it)

Italy

Info: Everyone knows about this league, the Italian league in my opinion is the best league in the world, even better than the English Premier League. There are so many good teams and great players. The three teams who will be contending for the Serie A title are AC Milan, Lazio and Inter Milan. The best players are easy to spot, there the ones who consistantly score ratings of 9. These players are; Juan Sebastian Veron, Andriy Shevchenko, Vampeta. These three are the main play makers for there respective teams. The clubs in Italy are probably the 3rd best financially behind the Spanish and English leagues. All the top teams have arounf 20m to spend and usually hang on to it or spend wisely. There is so much competition in Italy, theres the big three competing for the title then theres the likes of Fiorentina, Parma and Roma battling for Uefa and inter toto cup places. This is the way it usually turns out but occasionally one of these teams will break threw and content for the title. There isn't a great crop of young Italian stars coming out of Italy but suprisingly there are Scandinavian and South American players coming out of some sides youth squads.

Division Stars: Andriy Shechenko, Vincenzo Montella, Francesco Totti, Gianluigi Buffon, Andrea Michalcea, Juan Sebastian Veron, Vampeta.

Difficulty Rating 3/10: Basically isn't a division that experienced CM players will find hard, anyone with a good knowledge of football in general will find this an easy league to win al though there is quite a bit of competition.
