Building stability is essential in the latest version of championship manager. (00/01) First of all Ill give you a brief summary of what you need to do. You need to have a good all round reputation, leaving no stone unturned. The first thing you need to know is look over your squad to see who to keep and who to put on the transfer list. Once this has been done youll need to take a look at your backroom staff. (asst. manager, coaches, scouts) Eliminating all the coaches that arent going to help your team move on as players. A good coach can make the team donkey into a fan favourite.

If your playing in one of the lower divisions then you may find it hard to get some quality coaches but maybe you could get a premiership coach to become your assistant manager but mainly your going to have to sign the players nearing the end of there career as player/coach. If you are a top premiership club then you basically have your choice of any coach or Asst. Manager outside your division. The kind of things that you will be looking for in backroom staff are listed below:-

Assistant Managers

Your assistant is the back bone of your backroom staff, he is the one who managers your squad if you decide to take a holiday, so employing a good assistant is essential.

There adaptability has to be excellent, Id say that anything under 15 is unacceptable as your assistant must be able to adapt to a different training regime or drastic change of circumstances if required.

Dependant on what things that they are doing in training, there coaching of goalkeepers has to be quite good as well, if you are setting your assistant to train your keepers then they must have great ratings to train up young talented youngsters, 18+ would be ideal but anything above 12 will do for already established keepers.

Again depending on what your assistant is training your players on there coaching of outfield players will have to be good. Anything above 15 will do as your coaches usually handle this side of the training regime.

Determination, this is a must if you expect your assistant to help you achieve glory, if there determined then anything and everything is a possibility. A determined assistant will echo about the backroom staff helping them, then get through to the players, this will make an immediate impact on your team and how they perform on match days.

Judging player ability and player potential is mainly a scouting tactic but can also come in handy when your asking your assistant to file a report on a particular young player.

The level of discipline that your assistant has reflects on your team, if his level of discipline is low then you will find member of your team being sent off for irrational tackles, descent and they will pick up injuries which as we all know is annoying at the best of times.

Motivating, essential for getting your players up for a big match, Id say that he would need a rating of 18 or over to motivate your players, this will also get your players morale up.

Tactical knowledge is also a pretty essential part of your assistants statistics. If he has good tactical knowledge then he will be better at teaching your players to adapt to your own specific tactic, a rating of 15 or above will do.

Working with youngsters is only used for players that are aged 23 or above so if your managing a team like Leeds your assistant will probably have to have a 20 in this department, if your not anything over a 10 will do.

Coaches

Coaches are probably more important than your assistant when it comes to training. You may have a maximum of 5 coaches per team. Most of the best coaches are at Man Utd, Arsenal etc. (all the big clubs) But recently I have found some good coaches in the first division, especially at Wolves and Blackburn.

Adaptability isnt really all that important for coaches, as long as you have more than 3 of them. As you have 5 oft them, they will have there own skills and wont have to adapt to different training regimes.

The coaching of goalkeepers is pretty important for a young squad, if you have a bunch of young keepers then employ one coach with a rating of 15 or above and also employ one of your more senior keepers as a player coach, Ive heard Schmeichael becomes available at the end of the first or second season.

Coaching outfield players is an important attribute for all of your coaches. If all of your coaches have a rating of above 10 then your players attributes should go up steadily.

Like your assistant your coaches determination must be very high, 18 or above. If they do have these great ratings then your team should perform well in the big matches.

Judging player ability isnt vital for your coaches, if most of there ratings 10+ and then one of them with 15+ you should be able to survive. This is also useful when you are asking your staff to file a report on a specific player.

The level of discipline that your coaches have reflects on your team, if his level of discipline is low then you will find members of your team being sent off for irrational tackles, descent and they will pick up injuries which as we all know is annoying at the best of times.

Motivating, essential for getting your players up for a big match, Id say that he would need a rating of 18 or over to motivate your players, this will also get your players morale up. If you have a good captain with an influence rating of 20 then your coaches and assistants motivating rating doesnt have to be that high.

Tactical knowledge is also a pretty essential part of your coaches statistics.

Despite all this If a young player is training with class players (ie, Hernan Jorge Crespo) he will improve automatically, even if your coach has crap ratings.

Scouts

Your scouts, not the most essential part of a team in the top division as the y probably have the best players anyway, but if your playing in one of the lower divisions and you have good scouts then you will be able to spot some of the most talented youngsters in the game.

Note: If you are thinking of cheating then I have a small cheat; if you play with two teams, a big team (Man Utd) and a small club. (Colchester) You can set your Man Utd scouts to a search. (ie. Scandinavia) You can then sign the players that the Man Utd scouts find for Colchester.

Scouts, not the most essential part of any team by any stretch of the imagination. But despite this they can come in handy especially as the years go by and the new talents become less and less well known or heard about. Ill just give you a brief round up of what you need in a scout.

Judging player potential, judging player ability, working with youngsters, tactical knowledge and man management are the essential ratings, if you can find a scout with all these ratings at 15 or above then you have a pretty good scout, sign him up
