UPON WAKING (LOST)

Upon waking,

I have a sense of being lost;

Sleeping in a bed that is not mine

in a house I do not belong

surrounded by a city I do not recognize

In the mirror I see a face,

a face vaguely familiar,

yet to its features I cannot place a name.

I live a life,

which like an unfamiliar journey

has no set or marked path to follow

Who am I really,

just the face I see in the mirror?

Where am I going,

that I should have so much trouble getting there?

And finally, what is it that I want?

That I should even bother going....
