| Six Man Football Basics The idea behind the Columbus Sixman Gay Football League is to allow recreational full-pads/contact leagues to compete on a local level. Unlike traditional 11-man, the game of Sixman can be played with 10-15 players on each team. You can field an entire league with the same number of people it takes to field only two 11-man teams. Of course with a different style of play comes different rules. In Sixman EVERYONE IS ELIGIBLE TO CATCH A PASS!!! This makes things extremely fast paced on the field. The game is more wide open, faster and leads to huge scores. Another big difference in Sixman is that a field goal is worth four points and an extra point is worth two. Running or throwing the ball in for an extra point is worth one. The field is 80 x 40 (instead of 100 x 50), offenses begin 1st and 15, the QB can only run from the line of scrimmage if he is pitched the ball after the snap from center. Not familiar with Sixman football? Sixman started in Nebraska in 1933 and has been around ever since. It is still played by small high schools through-out Texas and the Midwest. |

Passing Passing rules in Sixman Football are the same as NCAA Football in which receivers must have one foot inbound. Overtime Rules The CSFA will follow NCAA overtime rules. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS What is Sixman Football? Sixman football ,simply put, is football with six people instead of eleven. It was originated for small high schools in 1933 and it played today by small schools in Texas and through-out the Midwest. The reason we decided to play sixman is that you can field a whole league in one city and it only takes 15-20 people to have a strong team. Unlike 11-man football you do not need 40+ to get a team started and trying to have a 10 team league in one place would be near impossible, not to mention expensive. Other good reasons to play sixman include the ability for everyone to receive a pass, less injuries due to size and speed of the game. Bottom line, its more fun Who can play in the CSGFA? Anyone (over the age of 18). It is an adult recreational league for gay men, dedicated to good sportsmanship and playing sixman football. Everyone will be given the chance to participate. What kind of league is it? Recreational. Its not Pro or even Semi-Pro just fun. Its for guys like you and me that love the action of "REAL" football but don't have the time or money to travel all over the country to play. |
