This page is the new home for my semi-famous research into one of the most quantifiable examples
of Imperial firepower in the Star Wars (TM) Universe. The incident in question, to those unfamiliar, occurs
in "The Empire Strikes Back" slightly more than an hour into the movie shortly after Luke's discovery of
Yoda's true identity. In this scene an Imperial Star Destroy (ISD-II subclass) eliminates several small-
medium sized asteroids with single blasts from its smaller guns. By analyzing the size, shape, and composition
of the asteroid we can come to a rough conclusion as to the firepower of Imperial light weaponry within
an order of magnitude. The links below are to the math, pictures of the incident, and a short essay I
wrote on why I did what I did.
For those who are curious to see this in its original format I've included "news:" links which should bring up
each version of the LTL calcs as it was originally posted in ASVS.
