| In very simplified terms, the lien to tail is a sweeper where the back foot is not set on the coping. But the trick is much more complicated than the sweeper, and should only be attempted by experienced skaters. The skater rides up the ramp at a speed similar to that necessary for the sweeper. Before the back wheels roll over the coping, the front hand grabs the nose of the board and the upper body is turned towards the table. The the back leg is stretched slightly and the body is brought upright. The skater rides over the coping in this position. Now, as the turn is initiated, it is important to have the body positioned over the board. Note: pay attention to your "rear end"; it must always be higher than your feet. After the turn, the back leg is straightened and the skater's eyes are turned towards the coping, the tail is pushed forcefully against the coping. Agter the landing the body is positioned for a drop in to the ramp and the body is extended. |
