| While this is not a very difficult trick to learn, the skater nevertheless needs courage and self control, as the danger of flying over the ramp or getting hung up is always a possibility. The skater needs good momentum when riding up the transition. An inch or so below the edge, the frontside turn is initiated by shifting the weight to the back leg and pushing the heel onto the board. At the same time, the upper body is turned towards the flat and the eyes are fived on the coping. As soon as the back axle has moved beyond the coping, the skater pushes the toes of the back foot onto the tail, which raises the back wheels off the ramp. Now the axle starts to slide on the coping. During the grind, the board is turned on the axle by 180 degrees. After the turn is completed, the upper wheels are back on the ramp. This happens immediately, meaning the skater need no longer be afraid that the board will get hung up. Finally, the weight of the body is shifted back over the center of the board and the ride back down the transition begins. |
