| The 50/50 is a very useful trick because it allows the skater to interrupt his ride and prepare himself for the next stunt. Mastering this trick will also make it easier to learn many other tricks like the 50/50 grind, the pivot stall, and the smith grind. The skater rides up the ramp and initiates a high backside kickturn. Just before the wheels touch the coping, he raises his upper body slightly and starts to turn. As soon as the back axle touches the coping, the skater stands completely upright and, in a sense, lifts his body beyond, over, the ramp. He looks at the coping and pushes the front axle onto the coping. The skater now assumes a slightly crouched stance, leaning into the ramp. Looking in the direction of the transition, he turns the board towards and into the ramp. After the turn is completed, al four wheels are back on the surface and the board rides down the transition. |
