Vet Visit - The G Day on his Birthday

Cullen Undergoes Natural Horsemanship
Cullen has hit MILESTONE on the 2nd October and was unfortunately gelded on the same day!!!!

Well, I can't believe the year 2007 has passed and have had Cullen for over 8 months.  I have watched him growing up and he is getting big!

Unfortunately for him, he had a little surgery on his 1st birthday; lost his 'dangly bits' so he's actually '2 stones lighter'.  I was just lucky that I found an understanding vet - after the countless calls to vets in trying to arrange for the castration but NO-ONE would come or do 'routine' work because of the EI situation!  This vet I found understood my pleas for my colt to be gelded as soon as possible, so I am really thankful it's been done.  This vet had to cover himself up with plastic and whatnot for bio-security reasons and safety!  I am forever grateful for this vet that did the job otherwise my boy would become more 'colty' a few month down the track than he already was!  Cullen was feeling his hormones due to the 'springtime' and was being an absolute idiot, chasing a gelding and trying to cause a racket with the little buckskin mare.  Not to mention, biting the other horses, hence the reason Cullen was getting all the bites on his body from their retaliation.  So he got the chop, it was enough for me!

After the gelding, he was just fine and normal as usual but noticed the big difference, no more nipping and is more relaxed in his usual surroundings just a day after the surgery.  However he was still egging onto this buckskin mare but not as bad though!  Hopefully by the end of two weeks or so, he'll be truly acting like a gelding.

Now I can't wait to see him reaching the age of TWO!  He is growing up beautifully at this moment, I guess I count my lucky stars; he isn't yet going through the 'gangly' stages.

A day after the surgery, he was a bit swollen
