This is the U.S.S. Nimitz aircraft carrier (CVN 68).  The last aircraft carrier my uncle was assigned to, before he left the Navy.  The Nimitz is still an active carrier, and has its own website.  Click on the picture, and it will take you to the Nimitz's website.

This is the Battleship North Carolina (BB 55).  My great-grandfather served on board this vessel.  She was decommissioned in 1947, struck from the Navy list in 1960, and transferred to the State of North Carolina, to be converted into a memorial.  You can visit the North Carolina at her home in Wilmington, NC.  Clicking on the picture will take you the North Carolina's website.

My father, and grandfather, also served in the military.  My father, in the Navy, and my grandfather, in two branches - the Army and the Air Force.  I look up to all these men as inspirations.  I am proud and honored that these men served our country in the capacity that they did.  My thoughts and prayers go out to all our service men and women who are currently serving in the war in Iraq.  May they come home safe and sound.
If you wish to learn more about these, and any other naval vessels, please visit the U.S. Navy's website by clicking here.
