Vacation!
Every year my wife and I have been on vacation with friends of ours that we met on our honeymoon.  It's become a yearly tradition, one that we look forward to with great anticipation.  Here are our destinations, most recent first, along with pictures from them.
Ocean Sands, NC
Vacation, 2005.  Outer Banks Take 2!  After debating between the families the Outer Banks won again (not that I'm complaining).  This time further north than where we were in 2001 and a much newer (and some say nicer) house, A View of 3 Seas. It was also Brendan's first vacation along with Rod and Kime's daughter Autumn.  We also celebrated the upcoming birth of Joe and Christa's first child, due in October.  A very relaxing vacation and one that personally I thought we needed.  This year's phrase was provided to us by Autumn and her love for a certain treat... STAR JUNKIE!!!!
Nordic Empress
Vacation, 2004.  This year, vacation was actually a surprise for our friend Joe.  Joe turned 40 this year (what an old geezer). Originally, we were not planning on going on this cruise with Joe and Christa.  But after remembering that Christa had mentioned that Joe was going to be 40 this year, I talked to Rod and Kime, and the four of us, in conjunction with Christa, set up the surprise.  Joe had absolutely NO clue that we were going on this cruise and when we surprised him on the first day, the look was priceless.  Another cruise, this time back on one of Royal Caribbean's smallest boats, the Nordic Empress.  We sailed out of Tampa on Saturday.  Ports of call were Grand Cayman, Belize City, and Cozumel.  A good time had by all, even though weather and illness played a factor at some points during the cruise.  Surprises were in abundance on this cruise... And of course, our saying for this year, was made by my wife, "Pizza looks really good.  No... FRENCH FRIES!"
Houghton Lake, MI
Vacation, 2003.  This year, our cruise friends ventured out this way to our wonderful state.  We used my uncle's house that he generously let us stay in for the week.  We didn't hit too many places, because, as I heard quite a bit from them, "Everything is an hour and half away?!!  Where the hell are we?!!!"  We did take them to Traverse City, and Mackinac Island.  We also saw the formation of a baseball team that could rival the Yankees... in our dreams.  And of course, no vacation would be complete without our saying, and this year it was, "Nice house, big chicken!"  Long story.
Hampton Beach, NH
Vacation, 2002.  This year, we rented a house in Hampton Beach, NH. 20 minutes from Maine, 5 minutes from the border with Massachusetts.  New Hampshire doesn't have much coastline, so it was easy to make day trips into Maine.  The house was lovingly referred to as "The Shack" due to it's size, but we had a blast regardless.  It was here that the phrase "ORANGE SODA!!!" took new meaning, and the acronym "C.O.S.T." originated (if you wish to know what that means, you'll have to ask).
Carnival Victory
February 2002.  My second cruise (and my wife's fourth) ever.  We went on this cruise with Joe and Christa, and their family and friends.  Unfortunately Rod and Kime couldn't join us on this trip.  Departed Miami on a Sunday, for a week.  Ports of call were: Cozumel, Mexico, Grand Cayman Islands, and Ocho Rios, Jamaica.  This boat was one of Carnival's newest at the time, but too damn confusing to navigate around.
Nags Head, NC
Vacation, 2001.  Our first vacation with our friends that we met on our honeymoon cruise.  We rented the Nixon-Cappellua cottage in Nags Head, NC on the Outer Banks.  It was here that we witnessed the events of September 11 unfold on television.  Most notable things about this vacation: the "Hot Room," the lime-green kitchen, and.... THE HAWK!!!!  It was here that the Brain was born (a touching moment if I may say so), and the phrase to immediately get the Brain's attention, "HUSBAND!!!!  Ya little f-----, what is your malfunction?!!!", originated.
