(My little way of staying in touch...)

MY LATEST NEWS ...
So ... what's new? Lately ... lots of travel. At the end of March (okay, not so new) we went kayaking in Baja, where I had an absurd number of encounters with deadly desert creatures. It was a first trip there for both of us, and we're definitely going back. We went with a kayak tour company -- a good experience for getting the lay of the land, but next time we'll probably do a self-supported trip. Anyway, it was a great trip. Except for the scorpions. And the poisonous ants. And the enormous "common chockwala."
More recently, we went up to Bodega Bay for our anniversary, which was lots of fun and a chance to see some wineries that are further afield. Terry spent almost all of July on his big Alaskan odyssey, and is now trying to figure out how to spend the time no longer committed to food dehydration and nautical charts. Right after he returned we spent a wonderful long weekend in the Sierra celebrating the marriage of our friends Nancy and Brian. The next weekend I went to the Twin Cities for Brooke and Jon's wedding .
We had also planned to go kayak camping on Lake Sonoma at the end of August to celebrate ... or at least observe ... my 30th birthday. (gasp.) But it was about a thousand degrees out, so we opted to stay in Alameda and have a little BBQ instead.
So, a very busy summer but full of great adventure and celebration. Coming up this fall: a trip to Philadelphia for Kevin & Laura's wedding. And possibly a weekend trip volunteering for Kerry-Edwards in a swing state. We'll see....
Meanwhile, in the realm of "is it post-modern, or just wierd" file, I'm spending lots of time knitting, much of it with my new-found knitting friends from the Mel-O-Dee Bar in lovely El Cerrito. I've now made: a huge red scarf, a stripey (?) wool hat, a sweater, "fraternal twin" baby hats (for fraternal twin babies), and the peruvian baby hat for the peruvian baby. In the works: baby blanket, black tanktop, alpaca sweater for Terry and something with the old rowan wool my mom just found. One of these days, I'll get around to setting up a photo gallery... And a knitting blog, since my friend Karrie is tired with my long "what did I do wrong" emails!
Speaking of galleries, has it really been a year since the wedding? The pictures are still on Ofoto for your reminiscing pleasure. REMINISCE! Also fun viewing: pics from our fabulous honeymoon in romantic canada , and photos from building Santa's Little Helper in our old apartment.
Meanwhile, for the nostalgic, ... here are my Alaska winter pictures -- my pet moose, the big snowstorm, and more...
Also, here are a few pictures from my big camping trip in summer '01 - pictures of Alaska.
And if you just can't get enough, here are
pictures from our trip up to Alaska! Maybe I'll eventually get my photos from the return trip developed, but this gives you a pretty good idea of what that was like, too!
