Penny's Famous
Husband!!
They are filming a movie here in this inky-dink
Canadian city (which I love) right now, staring Jennifer Lopez, Robert Redford
and (just found this out) Morgan Freeman. They are doing a lot of the filming
very close to the school dh teaches at...so parking has been fairly ridiculous
and there are ALWAYS people standing around hoping to get a glimpse of SOMEBODY
famous. (bunch of rednecks)
So yesterday, Jerad caught a ride with his Dad
to work. Now, his Dad drives this big, raised roof plush van (excuse me but
we've heard it referred to as the shaggin' wagon! lol)...so as they pulled up to
the school (just realized that there were "tow away zone" signs there
for the movie) and there was a crowd of people right on the sidewalk. For some
reason unbeknownst to me, these people decided that this van MUST contain
somebody famous. Out steps big ol Jed and people actually started to CLAP! ROFL!
Then from somewhere closer to the school "Aw, it's just Jerad" can be
heard!
Rofl!!!!

Thoughts to
Ponder:
We say we love unconditionally, we
may desire to love unconditionally but our love is SUCH a far cry from the way
God loves us. It is too easy to get caught up in wrong thinking about the way HE
loves us because of the way we love and have been loved. We will often use that
for a yard stick, for a comparison tool. Far too often we base our understanding
the LORD on our understanding of people. We expect from Him what we have gotten
from people. I am so glad that is so wrong! To GOD be the Glory, great things HE
hath done!

Penny's first post!
2001, Mar 21
I'm new here, guess I should tell you a little about me...
Hi, I tried posting a question below but I guess that this board is a little slower than ones I
am used to! But, that is okay...can work with that! |
|
I am a 30 yr old SAHM to one 4 year old ds. He is the greatest joy in my life (aside from knowing
Christ of course). We hope that one day God will see fit to bless us with a second child. We
live in BC Canada. We attend an evangelical church where I teach a SS class of 10 to 12 yr old
boys. I also volunteer for a crisis pregnancy centre once a week. Um, I am just looking forward
to getting to know some more Christian Moms and getting their perspective on things and making
new friends! Penny

On Tuesdays we have a short poll called "Tuesday's Twos". One of the
questions was whether you had a romantic proposal........
This was Penny's story.......
My dear dh - the poor boy. He proposed to me once, trying his best to be romantic and all and I
said, "Well, did you talk to my Dad first?" He gave a sheepish grin and a "No"...hoping that
maybe he could get away without it! No way buddy! So, a few weeks later we were off to visit my
family - and of course I knew what was coming - lol!
Now, it was my best friends wedding shower that weekend so I knew he would pick that time to
talk to my Father...while Mom and I were away. So...off I go to the shower - I am the maid of
honor so am at the front of the room with the bride. I am sitting there and, about 1/2 way
through, out of the corner of my eye - I spot him, standing at the back of the room.
Ack. "Um,
excuse me for a moment!"
I go back there and he takes me upstairs to the sanctuary, gets down on one knee - and the rest
is history! The funny thing is that there were some little kids up there...bored with the shower
stuff. Well, they saw us and went running downstairs to the shower..."GRANDMA GRANDMA!!! There
is a boy and a girl upstairs!!!" - nice and loud. "And what are they doing?" and just as loud,
they announce, "THEY ARE KISSING!!" I had some explaining to do when I got back down -
lol!
We were married 8 months later, in the same spot he proposed to me.

Why Penny has no smell!
I feel a little foolish (actually it is my Mom who should feel foolish) but can't remember
EXACTLY when this came to be - or if it always was. When I was a kid, my GP would always stick
foul smelling things in my face saying "can you smell THIS?"!! Really, we never came to a
conclusion as to WHY it is I can't smell. After some research, we found that smell can be lost
from a blow to the head.
When I was 4 or 5 I was riding in the back seat of the car gabbing away to my Mom...talking
nonstop like kids do. My Mom, I am sure, was like "uh huh", and "yes dear" to everything I said.
(it was her first time to drive alone on the highway as she got her driver's lisence later in
life) and she was quite nervous.
|
|
Anyway, during all my talking I said "Mom, can I open my door?" (my Mom has NO recollection of
this but I KNOW I asked this) and she said "uh huh"! So, open the door I did and went flying
into the ditch!! (these were the days before manditory seatbelt use!) My poor Mother freaked
right out and hit the ditch herself. Fortunately, I was just fine, no broken bones or anything -
but I IMAGINE that there was a blow to the head.
So, that is what I tell people when they ask why I can't smell...whether it is accurate or not
remains a mystery!
